I didn't watch the show in real time but I that definetly would have been the case for me. I did a rewatch with a friend of mine while she was sick and I thought it reminded me a lot of Martin with the diffrent characters, dope show.

Growing up in NYC and going to public schools in the hood all the girls were either Black or Latina. Black and Puerto Ricans/Dominican girls were the standard and white girls might as well been mythical creatures that only existed on TV. I've seen adult WW but hardly any WW around my age growing up. This caused me to kind of over look someone like Chelsea from TSR in terms of attractiveness. Black entertainment/culture as a whole when TSR was on the air was much stronger than it is now. Crazy as pro blackness/being militant wasn't popular back then as it as now, yet nobody was c00ns and everyone was comfortable in their blackness.


I wouldn't be surprised if its common for brehs to not meet any WW around their age until college.
