Michigan, Texas, Ohio State and Notre Dame have the biggest fan bases in cfb so it's no coincidence that if none of those teams aren't in, the numbers won't be there.

Not putting the national championship game on broadcast TV isn't very smart. Same with Monday night football. It has nothing to do with the teams. People are dropping cable everyday because they can't afford these $100+ a month bills just so they can watch sports center most of the time. Easier to go to a bar and buy a pitcher of beer and see the game. ESPN and NBA on TNT are the Lynchpins holding cable together but its a losing battle at the end of the day. They can't save cable because no one is going back to cable.

I'm just speaking on two storied franchises that have not been in the big game for a loooooooooooooooooong time. Like you know the ratings will be through the roof if the Cowboys make the SB next year.
