A solid 9,not cause she has incredible range or a powerful multi octave singer in the gospel vein,which seems to be the yard stick when we gauge R&B/Soul singers.She has an unique voice that conveys a broader range of emotions than most female singers imo. What puts her in elite category to me,is the consistent quality of songwriting,production and performance. I've seen quite a few live recordings and saw her live in the late 90's.The songs are timeless.
