I often times think Tamia should've done more songs like that, or in that vein of smooth laid back R&B and Jazz
Wouldn't be much of a chart success though. I loved that she branched out into that urban r&b scene with Stranger in my House and So into You. Idk why she never blew up. It's not like she had much competition during that late 90's early 00's era. I can't think of any solo female act that was dominating that era. Maybe Aaliyah and Ashanti, Deborah Cox? Beyonce wasn't solo yet. Alicia Keys dropped in 02 I think. Tamia shoulda crushed the buildings.

Word, true
Times were changing and the move she made was smart and more importantly it worked for her.

Yeah, it's weird. Tamia always was just kind of there. She wasn't ever super star status and yet she wasn't unknown. She was just there, in the middle.

But yeah, I see what you saying

Because she's boring and not a star.

I hate to admit it but you have a point. When I think of that time, singers were dancing and entertaining more. Tamia was just a singer. Stand behind the mic and blow you away. Thats also why Deborah Cox, Lil Mo, Kelly Price didn't take off either. It was a weird transition.

Gave her an 8 only because I already know who I’m giving my 9s and 10s to, and she may be just a tad below a 9 for me. So far, I gave a 9 to Anita and Lauryn and 10s to Whitney and Mariah.

I had a mad crush on her when she came out with “You Put a Move on My Heart.”

I give her a 7, she is a good singer but you can tell she was trained in somebody's school. There isn't any raw emotion in her music.

I initially gave her a 6 but listened to "im so into you" again, she has pipes, but strictly for the studio
