Also known for the most infamous band fight in HBCU history :wow: them and Southern University’s band was throwing tubas and shyt at each other in 98.


But outside of that I only hear good things about this school! I always thought it was in the metro Dallas area but I found out later it’s in the middle of nowhere like y’all said. Every black Texan I know speaks highly of it. They have a decent sized alumni base in Atlanta surprisingly.

I was at that game, I couldn't believe what I had seen. I was a kid. That shyt was epic. I couldn't wait to get back to school on Monday to tell what all had happened. (No cell phones)

What's crazy, SU band got back in the stands after the fight and cranked on them :russ:


It was intense when we got to the stadium. I miss the 90s breh smh. SWAC football, hell black football was at it's peak

Bro we be trying to tell these dudes on here..the SWAC been popping since the damn 70s with our people.

The stands were filled in the 70s when Walter Payton was doing his thing.

Stands were filled in the 80s when Mississippi Valley had them dominate squads

Steve McNair had the stands filled in the 90s

With the PWIs taking all the star black players, now it’s the bands and just the culture that keeps the stands packed.

Southern, Alcorn, Jackson State, & Grambling have had rabid fanbases for damn near 50 years

We appreciate what Deion did but the SWAC been doing this shyt

From my outsider's view, she had different plans for the school than the leaders of the A&M system did. Bezos' wife donated $50 million to PV specifically because of Simmons' proven leadership ability. Seems like control over that money is what caused tensions to boil over.
