I think we gonna check out Maymount and Belle Isle today. Only thing Richmond doesn’t have for my liking is an NBA team but this is definitely my type of vibe

:russ:
I haven’t noticed a smell yet bruh. New Orleans has a very distinctive smell to it. Haven’t encountered that yet.
I feel that. The Wizards used to do training camp and preseason games at VCU, I think they still come back every couple years...

The Skins used to training camp over near Diamond/Scott's Addition...

Richmond won't ever get the big leagues because it's too close to DC but there's plenty of sports heads in the city...

New Orleans is a city I haven't been to but would like to, how would you compare it and Richmond as far as scale of urbanity? Richmond isn't a huge city but it's bigger than people think and it has more shyt going on than I think people first assume...

Only been to New Orleans twice but it definitely feels bigger here. Richmond is way more walkable from what I can tell.

Both have long streets like something I’ve seen up north but not Atlanta..New Oreleans seems denser like the buildings are stacked on top of each other more than Richmond.

It’s nothing in the cities outside of New Orleans but it’s way more to do in the areas outside of Richmond proper.

Richmond is a solid midsize city...

Considering its location on the coast it might be on of the GOAT midsize cities if you aint tryna deal with the big city COL, density etc. while still having somewhat of the big city feel plus have the access and proximity to the big and other mid cities..

Its come a long way since I first visited 12-13 yrs ago though...Its loosened up quite a bit, from what i see the restaurants, nightlife and other options have been upgraded but it still has that restrictive watchful feel the commonwealth is notorious for loll..

Bruh as we were entering VA from NC I saw the biggest confederate flag I’ve ever seen in my life on 95 around Imporia.

Richmond is without a doubt the GOAT midsize city, I'm taking it over anywhere else in the US. And I think highly of a bunch of other midsized cities---->Salt Lake, Providence, Raleigh, Columbia, Knoxville, Rochester, Buffalo, Virginia Beach...

I have favorable opinions of all these cities. I'd take Richmond over every single one of them. Rich has real neighborhood culture, a TON of shyt to do, is an outdoors city, super artistic and creative....

The irony is you'll see none of that shyt in Richmond. Some people online speak about that Confederate shyt in Richmond to describe the city, yet you could live in Richmond and never even see any Confederate empathizers because all that shyt is supported by country ass white folk...

Fun story about Emporia, when I first moved to the East Coast I was playing Pop Warner football, we ended up playing whatever the Pop Warner team in Emporia was at the time (2000 season). Played them twice in the regular season, lost both times, one at home (we played at Fort Lee south of Richmond) and one at Emporia. We were undefeated, like 8-0 vs everyone else...

Went 2-0 in the playoffs and then met Emporia in the championship in November or December, and we had to go to Emporia...

Coldest game I ever played in, was single digits. No snow, just bone fukking cold outside, hella wind. We ending up losing that game like 20-11, some shyt like that. Probably only time I cried about a game I was in, we whupped everybody that year but got spanked 3x by Emporia...

I was expecting it to be cool here. It’s warmer than Atlanta right now. I’m with my girl she from up here..she was telling me about all the confederate monuments Richmond used to have & how it seemed like the whole city came together to take them down a few years ago. Seems like a progressive city.

We were riding near VCU & some white dude was holding a big ass sign that said “Support Palestine against the evil Zionest”
:dead:

It’s a midsize city but it seems like they have everything a major city has besides professional sports teams. From what I can tell so far it’s not ratchet or as dangerous as Atlanta & everyone seems nice even the cacs.

It’s nice up here bruh I can see why you like it.

Nah there's plenty of that hot shyt in Rich 🤣:

But the city has done the same gentrification to Rich that most other cities have endured the last 15-25 years, shyt used to be hot in most of Rich but they've gentrified alot of former war zones...

Besides major league sports, rail and just the sheer quantity of nightlife or retail major cities like The A and DC have, you're right in that Rich has damn near everything big cities have. Richmond definitely plays bigger than it actually is...

I know exactly what you talking about, that’s shxt is definitely a throw off…Personally I’ve never spent to much time to far outside the major areas when I’m in VA so I never dealt or seen anything crazy…I hear SW VA is no man’s land..With that said I had this thick mixed joint I bagged in DC who lived in Winchester, VA which is all the way north but not really NOVA, needless to say I visited her a couple times out there and man I could definitely feel the :mjpls: in the air for sure even saw quite a few confederate flags on the back of pick ups..

That’s a good list

I’d put Charleston and Nashville up there too

Would you consider Columbus a mid size city?…

Never been to Charleston or Columbus. I have been to Nashville and love it...

I consider Charleston a Tier II midsize city, which I consider cities with a metro area population between 500,000 and 1,000,000 people; Charleston's metro is 831,000...

I consider Nashville and Columbus Tier II major cities, which I think are cities between 2 million and 4 million people. Nashville has 2.072 million people, Columbus has 2.162 million people...

Southwest VA is easily the most southern and most racist part of VA, I stopped thru Marion years ago on my way elsewhere and it was by far, one of the most racist places I've ever seen...

Rich definitely a contestant for one of the GOAT midsize cities, it's git my vote...
