that scene sums up prison school in a nutshell. everything is treated as a life or death decision no matter how stupid the situation is. dramatic background music, suddenly detailed facial expressions, characters giving deep monologues that are dumb but at the same time logical, the aesthetic looking like it belongs to a action suspense thriller and not a dumb ecchi comedy. there are so many clips I can go back and get a laugh out of every time just because the presentation never matches the characters circumstances. One of the best absurd comedies out there.
Anything involving Hana and Kiyoshi’s rivalry/belligerent sexual tension is great. Funniest part of the series imo is when Kiyoshi, in the middle of being violated by Hana under a tatami mat, starts reciting deep poetry and imagining himself in a different anime (5CM per second) with a completely blank expression. Takes a good minute to process what just happened and goes insane. At one point cries.
But that isn’t in the anime, and so aren’t most of the too hot for TV scenes that the second half of the manga is full of. Not sure if the anime will ever get a second season because of that. I mean there’s a lesbian sex scene at one point because the student council prez is trying to blackmail someone and I guess there was no better way to do so than that.
Giving it a 8-9. If everything was adapted without censorship then probably a 10, provided that Calvary arc was shortened by a lot.
