I remember when I watched the 1st and 2nd series straight through 9-10 years ago

Bought the first video tape (that's right, VCR days) back in 1989 at a comics convention in San Diego.

That first fight had me and the other cats in the barracks like.............

10/10 easy, even though the animation is sub-par, the story + action makes it an undisputed classic of the genre.

Anyone who likes animé HAS to see this.​

I remember buying the tapes from Palmer Video as a teen, it was incredible to watch just crazy. This anime set the template for the super macho anime and probably influenced everything from later anime and video games.. Ken is just an iconic character.

One of my personal favs and definitely in my top 10. Its a classic that you could still watch to this day.

Great characters, great story and pacing. You feel the despair, but you feel the hope as well. Very violent and gory. Lots of badassery. Dialogue is great. Lots of gems are dropped. Despite the huge amount of episodes it has, there is very very little filler. Every episode is meaningful. The villains are top notch and they constantly test the protagonist and make him grow all the way to the very end.

Even the spinoffs were dope as evident of the newer series including the one with Raoh as the main character.


The soundtrack is also top 5 for anime as well. (Maybe even number 1) shyt gives you so many different sounds an emotions. Some of the best composed music for an anime is on this show.

I done had 2 of the beats flipped before for songs.

That Raoh series was no joke. He punched a building in half.
