Hunter x Hunter is a GOAT-level series for sure. The first couple of arcs are Naruto-lite, but once you get to the Heaven's Arena where they introduce the whole concept of nen, the series really starts to pick up.
The Gon/Hisoka fight is dope.
Yorknew City and Greed Island are dope.
The Chimera Ant arc

The character development from the Ant King, the fights, the savagery and how demonic Gon became in the end

Those ants devoured his girl, captured him, and had my dude sweating like a slave hiding in a pile of human corpses trying to escape.
When they had that boy sprawled out butt-naked, torturing him and forcing him to snitch on the human race
Those ants were digging through his brain meats like they were eating chow mein at Panda Express
Those ants messed around and fed the homie Pokkle to their queen like Jimmy Deans sausages

148 episodes. The anime is finished but the series isnt over cause the writer takes mad long breaks
Started watching this due to the high ranking it got.
Yeah this is how I felt, no real fighting starts until Heavens Arena. If it wasn't for the good reviews in here I probably would have stopped watching it during the exam stages.
Was disappointed about how the Chimera Ant arc ended tbh.
Would have preferred a proper showdown with the King. I'm guessing had someone actually beat him in battle it would have been hard to continue the story.
Such was the King's power, if any one had beaten him in a fair one it would have been hard to convince people someone could challenge whoever took him down.
I'd give it an 8.

We’ve come a long was since day 2Probably would say that was my favourite Arc.
The way Kurapika came back into the picture on some boss shyt with all the smoke for the spiders
Would have loved to see him get more airtime, but obviously his abilities being linked to the spiders specifically limits what he can contribute outside of that.
Still so much that can be done with that, guess we will have to see when/if it finally comes back.

I've tried to recapture my love of anime, so gone back and viewed some classics
HXH 2011 has no peer when it comes to this genre, no other shounen invokes the type of emotions, investments to characters, writing that this one does. I thought there was no way this would hold up, but it does beautifully
Yorknew is still the peak of this series, I would say there is a 12-14 episode groove in the arc that rivals the best in all of anime. It is a shame the original 4 protagonists are only together for about 30% of the series
