Haven't watched yet but just want to say a few of the gifs in the OP are from Paprika (the 2nd) and Perfect Blue (3rd last); two other amazing pieces by Satoshi Kon.

Always sad to see stuff on Kon because Dreaming Machine will never be made.

To be honest I think it's taboo. Japanese directors don't want to touch it because it was Kon's project.

When Japanese offer it up to foreign directors you know that it is pretty much not happening.

I give it a solid 7. I might need to watch it again because it was so long ago when I did peep it and it was so different from the Anime I traditionally enjoyed I just remember being like “This some weird shyt” as a teen. Especially that creepy Detective who they were pushing might be a pedophile

I could never understand jack shyt about what was going on in this dark ass anime to save my life but it was just so fukking lit One of the GOAT psychological thriller/horror anime I’ve ever watched, and you can definitely tell that the creative team was influenced by Serial Experiments Lain when they made this show
