Negativity (Kayfabe)
I Fell In Love With A Church Girl - I decided to give it a try after giving a couple of straight to DVD black movies a try and liking them.

7/10 - A bit a bad acting and writing, it was too long, but, they did make Andrea Baylon's character likeable. I just didn't like how--I don't have the word for it--easy her character accepted the fact he was a former drug dealer, who still hung with drug dealer, carried guns, maintained a lifestyle from his drug dealing days and it was like ":troll: That's the past." It was a bit too fairytale-ish. But, it was a decent, enjoyable movie.

The movie I watched before that was The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete. Jordan Sparks and Jennifer Hudson was in it. 10/10 in my book. The main character, Mister, is basically stuck by himself with another kid, Pete over the summer after his drug addicted prostitute mother gets knocked. And they are just trying to avoid being sent to a home. It definitely wasn't a run of the mill "black" film and executed it's story flawlessly.

Vampire Academy - 5/10 Having read the book this movie sucked. It was a book that worked as a book but would likely have a terrible movie adaption because I don't think the writer wrote it with a movie in mind. The romance was poorly developed. Things happened so fast it just came across as unbelievable. More Importantly there's just too much downtime in the book and not enough action. Also the snarkiness of the lead character seemed a bit overboard. The villain's presence was barely felt in the movie.

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones - 7.5/10.
Wasn't too shabby, specially for a movie in the vein of Twilight. Action was fairly solid for a PG-13 flick, acting was straight, cinematography and sfx was mostly good. Supernatural elements and story was fairly interesting and the various creatures in the movie were all unique and ghastly looking (we didn't want the baby to see them on the screen, lol) and the emo-angst/romance angle was fortunately mostly underplayed. Heard it's based off a book series as well, to which as typical protocol, the fans of the books were massively disappointed in the movie.
I tried to watch this move and just didn't get into it but I gave up on it early. I might give it another shot. I used my audible subscription to listen to all the books in the series and the first trilogy it much better than the second.

The first trilogy also had less romance IMO and far more action.

"
The film oozes contempt for its audience, caring nothing for the characters or suspense and only craving money."

Donald Rumsfeld is an immensely charismatic and fascinating man.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes...4/10
Good Lord this movie is awful. You can tell the script was just patched together because things happen that aren't paid off, things happen that don't make sense, and it's just a cluster cuss of a movie.

Escape from the Planet of the Apes 8/10
Infinitely better film. Funny, thoughtful, good script, good cast, and a great ending

Solid remake. But of course this being the internet and critics in general not wanting to go against the grain, it got a bad rep

Yup for alllll the wrong reasons. All the science in it made sense and was well researched and relevant to current events, the politics were relevant but not shoved down your throat, there was actual character development! They paid homage to the original in a tasteful way. Man I take it back it was a Solid 8/10 for me.
