Era talk aside, basketball comes down to matchups. I don't think GS would be able to play as uptempo as ya'll think. I think the series would more resemble the 2016 series with the Cavs--real defense, great players playing great, roll players stepping up in important moments, and a few key plays here and there would decide the series.
The Warriors with KD though, they're probably getting swept lol
Warriors could play any speed they want, they're still scoring 50% more points per possession than the Pistons would lol.
Let's assume 2004 rules, because the Pistons would be fukked if we're playing in 2016. Offensively, the Pistons don't really have anything. That squad was decent when facing bad defenders, but they struggled like hell against good defenses. You tell me, which one of these defenses is better?
Steph/Livingston
Klay
Barnes/Iggy
Draymond/Iggy
Bogut/Draymond
or
Tinsley/Anthony Johnson
38yo Reggie/Freddie Jones
Ron Artest
Harrington/Croshere
Jermaine O'Neal
Those are roughly equal defenses, right? Pacers were good but old-ass Reggie and lazy Al Harrington could be targeted on every play.
Well, that Pacers squad held the Pistons to 74, 72, 85, 68, 83, and 69 points. Detroit only reached 75 points twice the whole series.
Draymond, Iggy, Bogut and Klay are going to do just as well against that mediocre Pistons offense. So are the Pistons going to hold the Warriors to 70-75 four times?
