When they tried to make Ras palatable to the regular everyday rap fan is when he got kind of ehh, imo. He shoulda stayed in the super smart, conspiratorial bag and lived there…there’s a huge audience who love that…it’s just not the mainstream audience

agree 100000%. no one is fukkin with him when he's breaking down that type of shyt, religion, race, etc.

but Ras himself had a big hand in those awkward attempts at being more palatable. in older interviews, he'd downplay the NOTT type stuff somewhat, insisting that he was well-rounded and whatnot and sounds just at home on club or mainstream records


but it's his career and i could understand him not wanting to be typecast or broke
