Back in '14 or '15 i associated with a dude from Harlem who used to play the club promotion scene in Philly and he told me back then that Meek was one of those dudes like most rappers---->really from the set, people in his hood knew him cause he really from there but never outside hardbody. Dabbled in some shyt lightweight but is associated with reputable dudes more than being known as one himself...

I remember this exact conversation because I told dude he sounded like an East Coast Mozzy, this was when Mozzy first started bubbling (so it had to be 2015 when we had this conversation) and because my guy did promotion work he'd heard of Mozzy...

Philly dudes would know better than me and the guy who told me used to live there but wasn't from Philly, but that's always been my impression of Meek, a dude who was ever really outside on some heavy shyt but may have gotten his hands dirty here and there and his hood loves him...

In the time since I'm sure he's heard it wasn't Jeezy but he really doesn't know either way who sent the hitters. He a goofy and you can tell he moved like a dude who was green to the shyt because his case was winnable without saying a single person's name, whether it was who actually did it or not. Wasnt no need to say shyt...

He gets the hip hop pass because hip hop glorifies killing to the highest degree and the vast majority of hip hop consumers aren't around or used to being around people who have killed someone and the litany of circumstances a murder can arise from. In the real world a regular nikka is not eating off a body from damn near 16 years ago because the streets aren't construed to give hall passes just because you've killed someone...

A regular street dude would be under the gun for snitching on who they thought sent the hit. That dude could possibly survive it if he really an animal, and in my book it doesn't make the snitching acceptable, but we know public cases where big names were really animals and get away with snitching. He'd have to be that though, otherwise he'd be under pressure because the real world isn't a curated hip hop image, dudes are not like "damn he kilt a nikka, can't fukk with him!"
