It’s not a strawman, this is the most over used juelzing tactic. It’s been happening even before DaBaby situation. DaBaby situation just brought it back from the dead. Rapper X says something about another group of ppl, group of ppl get mad, then rapper X(or rapper X fans) pulls out the trap card. Same way the alphabet boys aren’t outraged by DaBabys lyrics, the defenders of DaBabys statement aren’t outraged by black on black lyrics and what they perceive as a “double standard” until it’s convenient to pull out the trap card and feign outrage. It’s silly.

Also, regardless if those ppl fought back against gangsta rap for their own political gain, it makes no difference. Ppl were defending gangsta rap no matter who came out against it. That’s another trap card. They only fought against gangsta rap for selfish reasons. And?

:comeon:
Tactics?

You tried to tie in DaBaby's situation with the "outrage" over lyrics in the 90's when DaBaby's situation isn't even about lyrics. That's the epitome of a strawman argument.

How old are you? No one was using a "trap card" argument to defend explicit lyrics in the 90's because that's exactly what was being attacked 'explicit lyrics" What folks were defending then were the rappers rights to say the things they were saying on record. That's a whole other discussion... That "trap card" argument didn't exist then.

You really gonna use "trap card" as a way out of trying to dispute a fact?:mjlol:

The part you guys keep leaving out about C Delores Tucker was she played herself and lost credibility when it came out that she was trying to work in the music industry and all that dust she kicked up basically was like a big marketing promo for gangsta rap. If you hate gangsta rap so much, how could you be "cool" with that?

This is such a disingenuous statement. Gangsta rap started in the late 80's / early 90's and people like C Deloris Tucker, Tipper Gore, Oprah, and others all spoke out against it. Back when it was fresh and new. They tried to nip it in the butt early but folks weren't having it.

I was recently watching this episode of Oprah with Ice T and all the Juelzing he does to try and justify the bs in his music was :snoop:

There's 4 parts to the video but I'm sharing this since it gets right to the point

If you watch the rest though you'll see how hard people fought for this, even the white label execs since it was making them the most money.

At the 0:48 mark this sista is so passionate about keeping the content alive. You would've thought she was at church preaching. This is after another sista says that she has 2 brothers and sees the changes in behavior and attitude the music has done to them.

And mind you, this is back when dudes like Eazy E and Ice T weren't actually that good at rapping and we're pretty much just talking over beats and saying fukked up shyt. No type of art or skill to it.

I said what i said because we the only ones foolish enough to let this goofy shyt ride all because "it slaps in the whip".

I’m confused. Why wouldn’t older rappers have no art of skill? You think skill was invented in rap with Rakim???

Easy E didn't even write his own raps. Ice T wasn't no lyricist. Rakim is widely accredited for ushering in the modern day rap style.. so yes, I would say Rakim made lyricism what it was today... Well the golden years at least.

Rappers are still worse in this department. Cube, Dre, Snoop, Dogg Pound, and all these "gangster" rappers all had wives and families yet rapping stuff like bytches ain't shyt and glorifying the pimp life. I highly doubt Deloris intended on promoting music like Ice T and Eazy.

I seee nothing wrong with the comment if it’s used to show how some black folk are completely missing how destructive this kind of music is.

We allowed this shyt to become mainstream so much so that it is part of society. Folk don’t evn bat an eye at these lyrics now. Folk now acting like this kind of shyt is black music that all black folk know and love.

of all the music we created, this is the one that sticks as “black music”. Go to a party, you’re gonna hear nbombs, murder, smutting. And folk won’t bat an eye because “that’s their music”.

Ice-t always had a message in his music.
the ending in most of his tales ended with
jail or death.

Yeah but that’s not my question.

I’m asking if you thought early rappers had no skill.

They had an older style but it takes immersion into 80’s rap to fully appreciate it. Listening to it on repeat until you get it. It doesn’t seem like you did that from that first post.
