I only say Nas, because I feel like Nas has transcended the QB sound. Nas is an iconic poet, so it no longer matters where he's from...even though it's ingrained in him. Hav & P are/were still QB. Damn near every album cover, almost every lyric. That's the difference. Nas is on a different stratosphere, not just stuck to QB.

I see what you mean but Nas will never not be synonymous with Queensbridge, no matter how big (mainstream) he gets

Did they not start making more radio friendly shyt in 99?
Every rapper makes radio songs to sell records they nvr made no corny shyt they didn't make no "you owe me" type bullshyt. If u goto any mobb or prodigy album/discography 90 percent if not more of the records got a grimy feel u can hate but u can't fukk with the raw legacy. :francis:

I ain't trying to hear nothing from the suckas you quoting and posting outside of P.

but this proves even more how much Nas is king of QB because even with Nas beefing with dudes like mega, they still show respect/bow down

DX: For sure. I think it’s kind of cliché to bring up Nas in a Cormega interview. And I hate watching or reading those interviews because you’re Cormega, not Nas. But since we’re talking about Queensbridge influencers, did Nas, aside from the shoutouts on “One Love” and “Represent,” impact your career heavily?

Cormega: Yes, he did. He definitely did. His influence wanted to make people sign me and associate with me. His influence was important, because once I was a part of that Firm situation, it was a big buzz, so I guess that made the stock go up. So he definitely was important. I can’t front on anybody. The It Was Written album was the biggest album I’ve ever been on. It was a multi-platinum album. I can’t front. I’m thankful for that.

DX: We spoke about Queensbridge earlier and as someone in the scene for over two decades to you, which was the biggest album in QB when it was released: Illmatic, The Infamous, The War Report, or something different?

Cormega: It’s kind of difficult to compare anything to Illmatic. Illmatic changed Rap. The Infamous was an incredible, glorious album too, man. I mean all three of those albums were pretty good but Illmatic is just a whole another level. Illmatic did for Hip Hop, what Paid In Full did in the ‘80s with Eric B and Rakim, Illmatic did in the ‘90s.

i never got the "not from QB" narrative surrounding P when cormega is from brooklyn and far rockaway as much as if not more than he is QB and nobody checked him on it (not that he deserved it)

seemed like an excuse for people who already had issues with P to get people on their side

They used sellouts to help them go platinum in 99.

Nas is the biggest and most revered artist from QB. If anything they would be jealous of him and refuse to give him his props:gucci:

Na:martin: mobb deeps the few rappers that nvr sold out nvr changed there image and nvr changed the direction of there music.

You're a big fan and aren't thinking clearly. They clearly were trying to sell more records by having bigger names on singles and shooting big budget videos. I'll say they had one of the best 3 album runs though.

I believe that he would accompany his mother who was working in QB (for the NY Housing Authority I think?) during summers and so he was around from an early age.

He didn't meet Havoc until 89 when he was 14/15. At that point I believe Hav started really taking him around QB.
I don't know if he ever actually lived there.
