Funny that now this situation got me thinking of Soulja boy. Kinda similar situation in that Soulja was in a crib with his peoples and nikkas tried to run down on them with guns. Soulja got the draco and claps back and manages to hit a nikka. We laugh and a couple of memes later you got the Soulja boy challenge. Thing is that coulda went left. Same with Camron when they shot at him in the lambo, same with dababy when he got ran down on at his crib and Walmart. Too much stress being a gangsta rapper. Man listen if I’m a rapper I’m just trying to be on some positive conscious shyt like tribe or J Cole. Hell if nikkas call me corny because at least I don’t have to move with a small army to live life.

As you grow older and see enough of these incidents, most people would move to positivity. The likes of Kendrick or Cole know that flossing and putting on songs filled with negative energy ain't worth your peace of mind.

No they didn’t man wtf :heh:

Post pictures...

The pieces today are more expensive dog by far. They was rocking basic pieces and a lot of bullshyt pieces too. Y’all can’t compare no damn Dipset chain or Cash Money chain to what’s going on now.

Please post these rappers from 1998-2003 who were as iced out as rappers today. A lot of people dapped you so I gotta see this.

And yes the average rapper has that much jewelry and more. That’s probably all of Blueface jewelry. I’ve seen GQ’s jewelry series and these rappers be having way more than that.

U gonna tell me rappers back then had bust down Richard Milles :laff:

Nikkas in the 2000’s was stepping out in fukking tees and the most expensive jeans was like Girbauds, Evisu, Parasuco, etc. Hip-Hop brands were popping that were affordable.

Right now nikkas wear jeans that cost $2,000 from Balmain and Mike Amiri and shyt.

It’s not close at all. Back then a rapper could be fly in a lil Benz or Hummer. Or a Lambo today rappers got Lambo trucks. Today every rapper is in a Wraight.
:snoop:.....

In this era For every overly iced out rapper (i.e. migos, future, etc) there's always one that is not flashy or looks homeless as fukk.
Lot of dusty looking dudes or regular dudes in the rap game these days.

Unlike 2002 when damn near every rapper had flashy jewelry, even if it was some off brand shyt.
Hence why when Ye came into the game he was seen as such an outlier.

Amiri is a new brand shyt hasn’t been out very long

U don’t know what your talking about. Are you seriously doubting the power of hip-hop to dictate fashion trends and push brands. The power of product placement in hip-hop? :dahell:

I’m sure Mike Amiri would agree which is why he personally has relationship with Pop Smoke and A-Boogie and was sending them clothes

Ask Tommy Hilfiger what hip-hop meant to his brand :heh:

Ask the folks at Gucci who hired Dapper Dan

C’mon

I agree with you on the former Amiri never heard of it but bruh Gucci has been around since the 1920s US Presidents, global heads of state and celebrities back in the day have been rocking it. Dapper Dan nor rap made it hot maybe to the overall Black urban consumer same with LV and other French Italian luxury fashion houses that people love to worship are 100 years old if not more.

I agree that hip-hop and Black rap artists are influential to the consumption of these products in the urban market but that doesnt mean the shyt wasnt hot before them. I never heard of Prada until rappers starting putting it in their rhymes and rocking the Americas Cup sneakers but that doesnt mean these rappers made the brand hot. The brand was hot globally BEFORE they just made it hot for someone like me who was of a certain demographics and a teen.

You may have a point with the Amiri since it is relatively a new brand or fashion line.

Not to diverge the thread RIP to the young man . At 20, yea you are an adult legally but you still a kid I know it doesnt make sense but you havent experienced life yet at that age. So its devastating.

Soulja boy’s situation didn’t quite happen like that, he had to tell the story that way to save his ass

He’s right in a way. Hip Hop is good for making shyt visible but Hip Hop takes that shyt from the STREETS first and brings it to the forefront. Hip Hop def helps with worldwide promotion tho. Especially for up and coming brands. nikkas kinda delusional when it comes to the high fashion shyt tho. Unless u mean NYC pushing it to the rest of the hoods in the country as “hot”.

You know in NY there's nothing but mainly luxury and security buildings that his label or management would get for him. London- the same. But in California, it's more open land and areas- a house with a pool. Not a gated house or secluded location either. The shooters knew what the deal was. He was a sitting target. At 20 yrs old, young dude from BK projects- he's never been in a house like that in his life which is why he was stunting on the gram. They all do it - Look at Jay Critch. For the life of me, I never understand showing off a private residence where you rest your head at. Look at this - same thing. Jay Critch another BK dude who's making it. (But what he fails to realize is that he showed the phone number to the realtor and address of the realtor as they were recording in the first vid).

He was not from the projects. He was from a private home
