So you're also opposed to people creating threads on here to dissect/discussion?

Ummm...ok, so let's go with MOST people.

No I just don't like the fact that Rap Genius is starting being considered the one only true online encyclopedias to deciphering lines.

But I enjoy reading discussions from other people's interpretation of the music. But I see a lot of incorrect shyt on Rap Genius that has me :beli:

He's right you are just trying to be a snobby elitist.

I' give you an example from 2012. "A Queens story"

A non New Yorker wouldn't be able to understand the references Nas is making in that songs.

You act as if Nas didnt know that when he recorded the song. Maybe it was something for his New York peoples, maybe he didnt want EVERYONE to know what he was talking about. It's not about being a "snobby elitist" its about preserving black/(peurto/domin/etc) music, because that's what it really is. Where did hip hop start? What was early hip hop about? Now ask yourself why the "sound" if the 90's gone. Who's running hip hop now, who's it aimed at? Who are the main PURCHASERS of hip hop nowadays? It hurts me yall cant see through this scheme. How bout this, put up a youtube video describing how your grandmother/mother make their kool-aid and EXACTLY how they cook all of YOUR favorite meals.

Go on youtube you see all these new white and asian rappers coming out. Who do you think they're really taking after? The music or our people?

"Acting black" has become an accepted term, the media has stripped us of damn near everything and makes us out to be cartoons/caricatures of real people. And yet they still copy our image, so when you see all these other ethnicities wearing durags and saying nikka and you turn the other cheek.. youre perpetuating it.

fukk outta here with that music is for everybody bullshyt. You dont see black artists making waves in the electronic, country, heavy metal or folk music scenes do you?

That every man was created equal shyt is the us constitution bruh. In no holy text have i seen it say all men were created equal. I live for god not the oppressors of my ancestors.

We're creators of everything, yet owners of nothing. I can see in 30 years, hip hop being lame and dominated by white mcs while black & brown folks move on to create the next ill genre only to be stolen later on down the line.

:what: the hell does this have to with Nas saying lines like

fukking with Stretch from Live Squad / I could’ve died the same night that Stretch died / I just got out of his ride / He dropped me off and drove to Springfield / November thirtieth, another Queens king killed

Then going to a site and seeing the story behind the lyric

@† ZULU † in here spitting knowledge, though there is a difference between being consciously "awake" about issues dealing with our race, and conspiracy.

I use/edit lyrics on the site from time to time, its a sparknotes for hip hop (for the nikkas that remember sparknotes from high school :russ:). Music is for everyone, but the powers that be took it (all music in general) and made it money driven. Yes, rap is mainly geared toward White teens, but whose to blame? It isn't just "bad ol' Whitey's" fault, we barely even support our own. shyt, if we DID support our artists on a more broader scale, you'd see more independent artists like a Master P or Baby, starting up their own labels and generating a good profit.

Whose fault is it that the people that came up with the idea weren't black?

How do you sound right now? It has EVERYTHING to do with it. Why is it so important to you that a "12 year old" white boy knows about street life in queens? Do you think its going to help people change their views on hiphop/black culture, where has that understanding ever gotten us before? Besides the privatization of prisons to make more money off our incarcerated brothers.

None of you have valid arguments. Bottom line a 15 million dollar investment in a rap website(internet is slowly becomingbecome THE MEDIA) by a jewish man referencing the talmud as an analogy for how he plans to use a hiphop website to dissect every rap ever written (he's openly monopolizing the rap forum btw) should be sending up red flags for yall.

No ones, i dont even agree with the concept of the site in the first place.
But that's not my point, why is anyone putting 15 million dollars into a rap-decyphering website? Do you understand how much money that is in todays market?
That's my point. Putting that much money into it is buying it out, monopolizing it, a continuing trend with black music. I don't care if i come off like a bigot cause its the truth. WE made these musical genres, the sound of the 90's is the sound of black struggle, black community, black romance, black identity, black wealth and now all those ideas have been pushed aside giving us this soulless rap that we currently have.

Why cant we all just get along? Cause no one ever got along with us.
