Nope. Them cats just trash. No blaming white execs. Most of these cats are creating music ON THEIR OWN trying to please the block with no A&R in their ear telling them how to make a song and this is the result.

Naw, The South took over and destroyed the artistry of it.. and it spread like wild fire to the Chicago's, NYC's, Detroit's and Memphis's of the world.

Yall notice the streamers and podcasters are more famous than these rappers of today.
If new york didn't take care of hip hop as well as you raised your son, maybe it would've turned out better

The reason rap have no stars is due to viral chasing and same content systematic themes
such as, rapping to a mic outside or doing some fake industry plant growth hype illusion.

The main factor too is that, there are no more black ran labels like a Q.C./Rocafella/Bad Boy/Cash Money/No Limit//Rap a lot/Ruff Ryders/LA FACE/

types, that had home grown artist.

The majors never created MAJOR IMPACTFUL STARS

even Michael Jackson is a product of a black ran label

The industry rarely created super impactful artist like that unless they were coming out from a black ran system.

There are a lot of black owned labels in the south that the Coli straight up ignores because they don't make the type of rap shyt that's valued here too.

TDE = SZA is an A Lister, but she doesn't rap

Dreamville don't have no super stars, they're supporting acts besides Cole
Labels are useless.

What OP should be saying is there’s no black owned distribution

Unfortunately, they won't let us win with that power. We gotta build our own forreal regardless
Whole thread is :flabbynsick:

Most young rappers are independent.
yeah but are they really "independent"

Sexxy red is indie but then you see who funds the fukkery

IThe thing is the young generation does not love Hip-Hop like that. The pool the labels had to pick from is dwindling.
As far as rap yeah it seems like it. But for RNB, there's committed artist.

The reason why these labels are suffering too is because they're not being held up by any joint ventures like that back then.

The only reason we had them is because that was the only way for white execs to connect with rappers. Now “artists” can go straight to their audience, not needing to work their way up through their local scene, not needing to get on a local label and fight for a spot, they can go from basement dweller to viral star. Nothing about having black labels will change this nor will it improve music. It’s fundamentally changed and lamenting what worked in one era as what we need today completely overlooks the structure of the industry today

Everybody's waiting.

Artists are putting out dross waiting for somebody to give them the bag.
Consumers are waiting for middlemen to tell them what should be popular.
The drama prone are waiting for the next argument or beef to get the Xitterheads chirping.
The talk shows masquerading as podcasts are waiting for the next trend to wave ride.

You want better, make better for yourself. Do your homework, put the work in, get out beyond the bubble built around you. Simple.

This new generation has no clue and don’t give a fukk about hip hop

It’s something they see as a quick buck because they don’t know how to move drugs, so rap is the drug game and at this point u don’t need labels when u have tik tok

Gen Z is all about clout and taking drugs the fastest way possible. They don't have discipline or foresight or believe in DELAYED GRATIFICATION to build a black owned label.
