I saw nicolas craven getting hype so I checked him out and heard a whole playlist and not one drum sound

I can't dig that.

I fukk with that sound but I need to know a producer can still make beats before he starts looping shyt up. it benefits the rapper for stuff like this but I feel hard pressed to give Nicolas any type of achievement awards off pure loops.

and for the last time RZA started that shyt not Roc not nobody. you can credit him for sped up soul samples and also the no drums loop shyt. Roc just brought it back. Alc did as well.
I peeped on this message board roc invented a lot of stuff when it comes to this underground rap shyt apparently

that nick dude is garbage...I like drumless beats but homie is wack

Daps but to be fair I don't think anyone really pushes the narrative that Roc started it. Most of the praise Roc gets is just for sort of bringing the sound back for the indie scene and helping pave the way for a lot of the music now. And even Alc admitted that he got on the drumless wave for a bit in the 2010's because he became good friends with Roc and Madlib (another dude that did it fairly early on) and they influenced his style.

RZA's the 1st person I remember doing the style consistently.

Nicolas Craven even admitted to basically just hearing Roc's beats and deciding to do that style. And this one has more drums than their usual projects. It's not much, but it's honestly more than I expected.

yeah, Roc didnt start it but I guess he carried the underground for a while and for those that werent outside before that time think thats where hip hop began. :mjlol: Craven was probably around 5 years old during Rza's heyday. and he admitted he bit the whole style from Roc.....he has no frame of reference before that.

see, yall in here startin this stuff again. :pachaha: I promised I wasnt going to clown these beats because people think I'm hating or out of touch....but as dope as Ran spittin, these joints have no replay for me. a whole album of drumless beats is boring, but at the same time.....Craven isnt that great at drumless joints. it basically just loops. he has no backing rhythm track or percussion period. literally anyone of us in here couldve turned on Fruity Loops and did the same thing and it would be hailed the same way. there's a lot of other cats doing drumless better than this guy. some of his samples are cool but would really hit the mark with drums. like the joint on here with the horns. he couldve put a beat under that shyt man. then the sped up vocal samples....with no beat....:scust: makes Heatmakerz look like Dre

We agree breh. Jay Versace pretty much does the same thing. Anyone here in this board would get clowned for what he does, but he’s got a lot of social media clout, so Westside Gunn co-signed him and he gets away with the laziest loops ever.

lol you did Heatmakers dirty at the end :damn:

their new shyt is dope, I think

Truth.

Ransom is a dope MC, and has been forever. But he deserves some actual beats. The drumless shyt for almost every damn song that Craven touches, is just lazy. And it gets mad repetitive. These projects would be a lot doper with real production. Having dude just spitting over loops kills the reach he can build. They're running that style into the ground.
