Man of Steel is the probably the best Superman movie I've seen so far in my life.

The first 2 Superman movies from the Christopher Reeve era were good for it's time period but the shyt that happened with III & IV were terrible. I don't know what the heck WB was thinking with Superman Returns and bringing on Bryan Singer as director but I don't know why they tried to continue the Reeve era & style of Superman films when there was better stories to tell & villains to choose from. I could understand the technology limitations throughout the 80's though.
