@murksiderock where's your playoff predictions breh? I usually look forward to your write ups before playoff time
Man I appreciate that, dog! Mostly I'm still so undecided on The West. I've got The East coming down to Cleveland/Boston, and I think its gonna take a Cavs team I just don't think exists, to knock off the Celtics. I think the Cavs can make it watchable but I have them losing to Boston in 6...
I do think there's an outside chance for the Pacers or Bucks to upset Cleveland in Rd2, bit I think both of those teams would be even less competitive against Boston in the ECF...
In The West I think OKC makes the WCF but unlike Boston, I don't think they are a lock to do so. I gotta see where the final standings rest, because I can see LAC, LAL, GS, or Minnesota all making the WCF, and I can see any of those teams beating OKC whether they catch em in the WCF or Rd2...
That's 5 teams I think could win The West. I think OKC
could beat Boston but they'd need to be at their absolute best. I dont know if any other West team could beat Boston, even though I think they could get to the WCF...
Since the All-Star break, here is everybody's record in both conferences:
EAST
Celtics 20-5 (.800; 66-win pace)
Cavs 19-7 (.731; 60-win pace)
Pacers 19-8 (.704; 58-win pace)
Bucks 17-10 (.630; 52-win pace)
Pistons 15-10 (.600; 49-win pace)
Bulls 15-10 (.600; 49-win pace)
........
Magic 13-11 (.542; 44-win pace)
Knicks 14-12 (.538; 44-win pace)
Hawks 12-13 (.480; 39-win pace)
Heat 11-16 (.407; 33-win pace)
WEST
Thunder 22-4 (.846; 69-win pace)
Dubs 19-6 (.760; 62-win pace)
Rockets 18-7 (.720; 59-win pace)
Wolves 16-8 (.667; 55-win pace)
Clippers 17-9 (.654; 54-win pace)
Lakers 17-11 (.607; 50-win pace)
.............
Nuggets 12-13 (.480; 39-win pace)
Kings 11-14 (.440; 36-win pace)
Grizzlies 11-15 (.423; 35-win pace)
Mavs 8-16 (.333; 27-win pace)
My big takeaways from this:
•the Lakers have played 2-4 more games than everybody else in The West, which obviously means they've had fewer days off. And yet they are still easily the #6 team out West since All-Star, which indicates they are better than that record suggests. No b2b's in the playoffs, no 3 games in 4 days stretches. They could be really potent coming up;
•the Pacers (~58-win pace) and the Bucks (~52-win pace) have been playing outstanding ball since All-Star. The Knicks and Cavs are gonna be in serious danger if they run into one of these two teams;
•Celtics have the easiest side of the bracket of anybody. Look at who they could potentially face. They are gonna cruise thru the first two rounds. They should get a challenge in the ECF, but can either of Cleveland, Indiana, or Milwaukee have any chance to beat them?
•imagine being the #1 seeds on both sides and having the toughest path to a championship

OKC is on upset alert in every single round unless they draw the Grizz or Nuggets...
