This. May sound crazy but I would be up for the nba cup winner having 1st round home court advantage no matter the seeding or being able to pick their 1st round opponent to add that extra spice. If the winner somehow misses the playoffs, they would get added lottery odds. The NBA Cup has been a good addition, breaking up the monotony of an 82-game season, but the incentive for winning needs to be greater. I'm sure in time they'll be able to work out something centered around the playoffs.
What? The spurs haven't played in 27 days bro what kind of schedule is this
ok well like 5 days but close enoughWhat?
They literally haven’t payed in a month?
I think we know the only two ways to incentivize players is money or rest. I think the best way to incentivize teams to take it serious is to give them time off. For my radical solution I would give the teams that make the finals of the cup one week off (with the winner receiver a second week off) and an automatic 6 wins for the winner and 3 wins for the loser to make up for the games missed. It would never happen because the historical value of all-time wins records and stats and everything. But I think players would love to have the extra time off, it would benefit teams that win it in that current season with the standings bump while still forcing teams to still win by not guaranteeing a playoff spot.This.
