That Suns collapse in the playoffs really saved Kidd's job. He probably already would've been gone by now if the Mavs didn't win that series.
Mavs getting desperate.
Losing four straight will do that to a team.
Powell, Kleber, and Bertans are G-League players, but continue to get minutes in some way shape or form.
THJ is a bench player, and everyone but the Mavs know that.
Cuban tried to cheap out Brunson and he walked for free and that was their best trade piece.
Kidd will get fired next season.
Brunson had his sights set on the Knicks and there was nothing the Mavs could do to change that. The only thing you could blame them for was not signing him on the cheap when they had the chance to do so, but even then no one knew that he’d become a $100 million dollar player.

That's exactly what I'm blaming them for. It doesn't matter if they didn't think he would become a 100 mill player, dude was still playing very well and it's not like the Mavs ever had a wealth of talent or people who could create. Even in limited minutes, he was still able to make an impact which a lot of young players struggle to do.

Kleber got a 35m deal in the bubble

None of that money could have ended up in Brunson's pocket when he was asking for around the same money that Kleber got? Nah that's disrespectful and what lead to Brunson going to FA.
Honestly, they were screwed either way as Brunson isn‘t good enough to be a legit #2 next to Luka and that KP set them back as they don’t have the cap space or assets to go get one. Legit #2s is a very small list that people need to wake up and realize is the reality. However, good/great starters are an abundance. You don't need world beaters at every position, but Cardio Masters like Kleber and Powell getting major minutes isn't the move.
And where those guys supposed to come from since the Mavericks have been poor at drafting for the most part and gave up assets and wasted time with KP before that Luka supermax kicked in. We’d still having this conversation even if Brunson was still on the roster as the Mavericks supporting cast is ass and they have no way to improve it.
It’s why I say that they were fukked either way as it’s harder to build around a superstar when their max kicks in, which why a team like Minnesota made the move for Gobert before Ant gets his as all future flexibility is gone after.

They're only 4 games back after losing all these games in a row. Could have easily leapfrogged a lot of the early struggling teams and gotten into a groove.
But he isn't, so they'll be perennial playoffs because of Luka, Kidd will be fired next year after no moves are made, then Luka signs with the Heat once he hits FA in a couple of years.
Mazzulla is looking like an all-time great coach in the making. I haven't seen too many offenses flow like the Celtics' in a long damn time.

I still don't get including Bertans in the KP trade considering that his knees are cooked even worse than KP's.
