Jrue Holiday's manhood was stripped tonight.

Giving up 40+ and Jimmy was talking shyt all game. It was so bad that Bud took Jrue off of him and put Matthews on him instead.

I don't think I've been as wrong about a team as I have been about this Bucks squad.

I mean, we'll never know if this was merely an anomaly where everything went against them or if they're just fake, from top to bottom. This team was built to dominate the postseason and they did anything but. I was sure they'd win it this year.

Crazy.
outrageously bad coaching.
robin lopez was only in dpoy talks cause of scheming and spamming drop coverage...which works against most teams most of the time.
spoelstra exploited bams passing skillset vs a team that refused to switch until it was too late.
robin being a stiff pulled out of the paint rendered useless cause he doesnt have the ability close ground without fouling.

some of these passes are passes about 3-4 centers in the league can consistently make.....but not switching actions with giannis was absurd line of thinking.
mitchell robinson quite possibly could blow up half of these plays cause of his ability to close distance.
budenholzer needs to get fired lmao

It can't be ignored that this is on Giannis too.

Instead of aimlessly defending role players, loitering out on the perimeter, he should be helping out with the paint protection. He doesn't need Coach Bud to tell him this (it's not like this is his first rodeo against Miami), he should be proactive and do it himself. We've been told how he's this transcendent defensive player and yet here he is not even willing to help or blow up any actions. He's just standing by watching Jimmy getting easy looks at the rim.

well he needs to say that in a timeout. it's the player to an extent but ultimately a coach has to wake the fukk up, no?
with that said, I know for damn sure draymond would never let the same play work in 3 different variations to close a game.
thats some bullshyt, low iq shyt.

Or perhaps the coaching staff knows that Giannis isn't capable enough to put him in that position.

Do we really expect a coaching change will mean that Giannis will start anchoring that side of the floor and taking on those responsibilities when he sees his team drowning on defense? If he can't take it upon himself to see this and put it into action after all these years, what's going to change?

But you right on Draymond, and that's the difference between someone who's legit on defense and someone who's not.

thing is, in years prior he used to in spurts. part of the reason why he won dpoy. he used to take on challenges....and make self calls to blow up something. even if he's uncomfortable in that situation...sliding over and preventing the easy looks is simple....he legit could just show and throw his hands up and not go for jimmys 30 pump fakes. giannis at his worst is a great deterrent at the rim.

and to answer the bolded...to be honest yes. bucks are so strict with their defensive principles...they'll run drop coverage against the god damn warriors. I've never seen an elite team in the modern nba so stubborn with their defensive philosophy regardless of the opponent...which I get to an extent...they want to control the direction of offenses to make rotations predictable. if giannis adlibs at any point of that anti-pressure drop coverage defense....it leads immediately to an open jumper. part of the reason I wasnt that high on brook lopez's defensive season.
a different system with more freedom or flexibility would enable giannis to do a lot more....but in terms of his judgement....he would foul a ton more cause his decision making and knowing when to turn his motor off is lacking.

I don't recall him ever doing that with any regularity.

The highest he's ranked in rim protection volume (per game) in the playoffs since becoming a star is 36th; even in his DPOY season we all saw how he didn't take it upon himself to defend Jimmy when the Bucks lost 1-4, whilst being 103st in rim protection volume during that postseason. History repeated itself three years later where he failed to take on that challenge, once again. He's never shown the ability to be a defensive anchor in that capacity. He's good at providing weakside and/or chasedown blocks, but to the extent of being great on defense to where he's taking on "challenges", he has rarely shown any ability of being so. I don't think he has the BBIQ nor disposition to do so.

And it's the reason why a change in coach won't change anything.

If he hasn't worked out what to do on that side of the floor at 28, he never will.

Looks like people were dead wrong about Miami’s demise this season. I ain’t gonna act like I saw this coming either.

And at this point, what all that went down in the bubble seems less of an anomaly and simply the start of a new era of unpredictability.

i.e. This is a 3rd year now where Butler and MIA have made an improbable playoff run, even if they lose to NYK. MIL don’t got the excuses

And guys like Jamal Murray, now finally healthy are looking indistinguishable at times from their Disney counterparts.

Hell, we’ve been seeing ‘bubble performances’ all season from skilled players. SAC is a bubble team outside the bubble.

I had the Celtics beating them again, if they’d even made it that far tbh. I just think the Celtics are too complete a team, they have the offense, defense, shooting, and depth. They’ve got the better coach, and when the Bucks let a guy like Grant Williams shoot them out of the playoffs once, he’s liable to do it again, or someone else. Bucks are stagnant on offense too much to dominate in the postseason when easy buckets don’t come in transition and shooters can’t hit the broad side of a barn.
