If that was their plan then they did a terrible job of it as it was always obvious that he wasn't going anywhere else other than Milwaukee and those rumors were manufactured by the media to drum up content. It was always obvious at least to me that he was going to stay as you never really heard any rumors about teams that he would have been interested in going to like you did with other players.

It's kind of a disingenuous point itself though considering the fact that even Giannis knew that part of those teams failures were on him as well. Having Jrue over Bledsoe worked wonders for them, but it also helped that Giannis was above average in plugging the holes in his game that plagued him in years prior.
