care to explain how the backcourt situation is going workout with bryan forbes?
Just noticed its contract year for breh.
Are yall moving forbes by trade deadline?
Or is there any intention of keeping him...
I'm Pretty sure moving forward the goal is to have a strong, skilled and tall backcourt of White and Murray...
Forbes is invaluable because he is the only volume 3 point shooter in the starting lineup...
But that is only because LMA and Demar don't shoot 3's...
In the short term he has to start...White has to run the second unit because no one else can and Murray has to start because most of his value is still in his defense which means he needs to be on the floor guarding the other teams best perimeter player...
As time goes on though...Spurs will replace Demar with Lonnie and Keldon...two guys who will shoot 3's...and will replace LMA with Luka...who will shoot a 3's...which means at that point you can start murray and white...then forbes slides to the bench to replace marco and hopefully patty...probably not though i'd be shocked if patty doesn't retire here...and by then maybe we have a real backup point guard who can run the second unit...I hope Quinndary gets a chance to next year...
So the question is how much are you going to pay in free agency for a guy who's role will get reduced as aging players leave? I'd like to have him around but spurs shouldn't break the bank for him...
This is yet another problem caused by lma and derozan not shooting 3s...
