I honestly have absolutely no respect for anyone's player ranking list that still has LeBron James has the best player in the league. Never have I seen a player get dominated at the highest level of basketball by a player at his same position and still be given the benefit of the doubt. The idea because that a player can raise a team's floor takes precedent over a player being able to fit in any environment and raise a team's ceiling is quite mind boggling to me.

It's fascinating because everyone sees it this way. Amazing

NBArank Top 10: The very best of the best

Top 100 NBA Players of 2018: 100-11

I'm not taking away anything from his past but he's not currently the best player in the NBA in 2017. He's just not.

My point is he's being given the benefit of the doubt because what he's done in the past. Similar to Kobe. How many years have we had to hear that Kobe was the best player in the league when LeBron clearly had surpassed him? Both Durant and Kawhi have surpassed him as a player and people are too stuck in the past to realize it. He got taken into the deep waters and drowned by a player at his same position in the Finals and the media is pretending that didn't happen because KD played on a loaded team as if Lebron's teams weren't loaded during his prime.........KD finally had the opportunity to play LeBron one on one and everyone is salty because he dominated.

Just so happens that KD's style of play actually elevates the talent around him to having a super high ceiling while Lebron's skillset can elevate the floor of a team while putting a limit on it's ceiling.
If it weren't for posts like this, I'd lose hope for this board altogether.

I agree that KD snatched the crown in the Finals but :comeon: with this. The talent around him reached a pretty high ceiling before he got there (and when he was hurt) and he didn't elevate shyt when he had every chance in the world to knock them off prior to joining them. They are the ones that allowed him to play one on one without having to exert as much energy on either end of the court. If KD did that on the Thunder, it would have been unanimous that he was the best player. But since he joined a squad that did so much without him, including beating him, he allowed people that out. There's loaded and then there is a squad folks were putting up there with the GOATs without you.

Not to beat a dead horse (back to life), but Bron is a walking ticket to the Finals because he's in the East. Durant, Curry and even Kawhi would be the same if they were in the East too.

Kawhi the truth but I'm not sure I'd take this Spurs squad over Boston right now or Washington if they take that next step this season :patrice:

Curry & Lebron were more impressive to me in the last 2 playoffs than KD.
But he was insane in last years finals so he could lay his claim as best player.
Curry is way more important for the ceiling of his team than either KD or Bron right now or the last 3 years
So shouldn't he be given the title for best player.

LeBron wouldn't have elevated shyt if he didn't get the right breaks at the right time against GS in the '16 Finals either.

LeBron stans like you would find another excuse for why Durant isn't the best player: his record against LeBron, or the fact he has another 'top-5' player in Westbrook on his team, or the fact he isn't a great defender (which he is), or he isn't his team's #1 playmaker.

So in other words, you really had no response to what I actually said but you still wanted my attention? You didn't have to go through all that. You coulda just said "I wanna talk basketball" or "I wanna talk any other topic".

The Warriors had the right breaks in 2015. Why is that an indictment on Lebron's championship?

It shouldn't be an "indictment" on any team's/player's championship. Winning in any sport is all about getting the right breaks at the right time.

It's important if you understand the context in which I framed my argument. This is about who the best player is/was - just because Durant couldn't get past the Warriors and LeBron did, didn't automatically make LeBron the better player in 2016. If OKC got the same breaks that the Cavs did against GS, they would've probably beaten the Warriors 4-1 or 4-2, and nobody would be posting nonsense like 'Durant didn't elevate shyt against GS'. Now if Cleveland played the same strength Warriors squad that OKC had to face, the Warriors would've probably won 4-1 or 4-2.

See where I'm going with this.

You obviously didn't get the point. Can't say I'm surprised.

So you knew I wouldn't get it and still took the time to type it out? Whats the point in that?

Like I said, you don't have to troll or try to goad me into silly back and forths. You want to have some legit discussion just say the word. Now if you just wanna troll and do the back and forth thing that's fine too. I just won't be participating any further.

I said I wasn't surprised, I never said I knew you wouldn't get it. I wasn't trolling, I was just pointing out your flawed logic. 'tis all.
