What's goin in with Kenneth Faried and the nuggets. One night he starting, the next he's coming off the bench and then he's getting DNP-CD. Houston needs to make some phone calls to Connelly. He would fit in well with our squad.

I've noticed that almost everyone in the NBA gets the old shooting fouls/continuation called except James Harden. They've basically cracked down on the most notorious guys.....Harden, Lou.......but underrated guys like Lowry who picked up a ton of points from the line (he's getting 3 less FTs a game).

He's still leading the NBA in ft attempts. :rudy:

bytching about Harden getting fewer free throw attempts like complaining that White qb's been on a shorter leash recently. :heh:

Whenever you trade one of your cornerstones, you never get back equal or better talent. Only way they trade McCollum is if he go with some of those bad contracts(Meyers or Turner)

I wasn't really hinting at trading him for a player of equal talent, but moreso for flexibility. If you trade McCollum it would have to be for picks/cap flexibility or to be rid of a bad contract as you said. This team has seen it's ceiling and sometimes you gotta shake it up.

The Warriors did the same thing awhile back when they traded Monta Ellis, everyone was up in arms, but they drafted well and it gave them the flexibility to make a few FA pickups that ended up being the core to a deep bench (Livingston, Iggy, Speights)

I'm not bytching about him getting less free throw attempts, I'm making an observation. As @who_better_than_me said, he's not getting the benefit of the doubt at all (while other players are).

Yeah they not giving harden no benefit of the doubt there. And then I see guys like Derozan all the continuation calls. Crazy thing is he still leads the league in 3pt foul calls. This is helping Harden out. Ow. This usually happens to him in the playoffs and throws him off but now it's happening in the regular season and he's better cause of it because now he has to produce without those calls. He won't depend on them when the postseason starts.

(Unlike last season when I had an MVP future on Harden and Over 41.5 games on the Houston Rockets) I have no vested interest in the success of the Rockets or James Harden (I'm a Lakers/Sixers fan). However, I'm not going to sit here and pretend I don't have eyes and don't notice things.

You're basically the West Raptors. Stuck in treadmill hell but too afraid to take a chance on making your team better (trading McCollum/Lowry)

I don't think you can compare trading McCollum to trading Lowry or refer to the Blazers as The Raptors West. Their situations are NOTHING alike.

The Raptors are in the midst of their most successful team ever with these last 4 playoff runs. It's a lot to ask them to break that up. Signing Derozan to that huge deal sealed the deal for that.

As much as Derozan may be their leading scorer and the guy they're going to build around in the future, Lowry has been the biggest reason for the Raptors success over the past 4 seasons. The Raptors are just now getting to the point this season where units without Lowry are successful. Even now, the most successful lineups contain Lowry. Lowry and the bench units have been one of the strongest performing units in the league in the regular season behind the Warriors Hampton 5/Death Lineup and LeBron and the bench units the last few seasons. There's a reason Lowry's pretty much led the league in minutes over this stretch.

Raptors 5 man lineups (take a look below)

Toronto Raptors

All that said, the Raptors have been lessening Lowry's load and preparing for his replacement with Wright and VanVleet. There's a reason they only gave Lowry a 3 year deal. They're simultaneously competing for the playoffs while building a team within a team for a future rebuild. They've drafted well. Guys like OG, Siakam, Poeltl, Wright, Powell, VanVleet are all solid young guys for the future......and they've built an offense that has lessened the load on both Derozan and Lowry. If things don't work out this year they can make moves.......

With the Blazers everyone with a brain knew from the start when LMA left, and they traded Batum and Lopez that Dame and CJ were a bad fit. They over performed in season 1 and their GM made a bunch of panic win now moves that has them on a treadmill........they gave huge deals to Meyes, Crabbe and Turner and now they're stuck. shyt they're lucky OKC matched Kanter's deal or they'd be stuck with his deal too. They've pretty much made so many poor moves in a conference where unlike the Raptors they don't have a chance at the conference finals that you almost have to question if they simply just got lucky with Dame and CJ because they're pretty much the only two guys on the team worth anything.

Watching the Blazer game and there was a play where Meyes Leonard got hit in the face, paused then threw the ball backwards into the hoop and they called it a continuation shooting foul.

It's reached the point where it's pretty similar to the NFL where no one knows what a catch is.

they doing it to westbrook too. it seems like they are specifically trying to limit the amount of times westbrook and harden get to the line no matter how much they are fouled.

Word,

Harrison Barnes basically ended that man's career in the 2013 playoffs as far as I'm concerned.

David Lee went down with an injury, GS went small and ran Faried, Denver and his career off the floor. Wasn't big enough to punish Barnes on the block and got destroyed trying to guard him on the other end.

It was like watching the evolution of basketball in real time.

Yup, it's like they have a list of guys who got too many continuation shooting fouls the past few years and are flat out not letting them get away with it anymore.

It wouldn't bother but its just not consistent at all.

Raptors were in the CF 2 seasons ago when were the Blazers in the CF again ??

Raptors have the best bench in the league (no joke) and theyre all under 25...Blazers have Meyers Leonard and Ed Davis.

Blazers wished they were the Raptors and had there pieces...
