Russy needs to set the example of sacrificing for the greater good of the team, right now they're all just fighting each other for touches to simply go ISO after they get a defender switch.
Westbrook has his contract, he's committed to the city, he won the MVP, he gains nothing by stat padding and taking every shot at this point. In reality, he needs to become an elite creator to help PG & Melo get easy buckets so they at least have a passing thought at staying and then recruiting others to come also.
But if he's just gonna jack up 3's and not even run offensive sets in crunch time, he's basically pushing Melo/PG out. Also, if he's undermining Donovan by not running plays (I'm pretty sure Donovan didn't draw up "Westbrook take 5 dribbles and jack a contested 3" out of their last timeout) ... that just encourages Melo/PG to do the same.
Or, if he truly just wants Russ ball like last year and wants to push these guys out ... he's doing the right thing in that manner.
