I don't think this is surprising. He doesn't have to do as much as he did in LSU and that extra energy could be spent on the defensive side of the ball

I don't really watch much college but everything I read about him broke down his lack of wingspan affecting his ability to be a solid defender at his size in addition to his effort.

Wingspan is one thing, but if you're pretty much being asked to do everything on offense with a perimeter game and you're playing the 4 on defense I think that's too much of a workload to be expected to play hard on defense. I think he's athletic enough to make up for his wingspan, and since he'll have a lot of help I think he can conserve his energy. I'm thinking Saric will start at the 4 and Simmons will play at the 3 and at the 3 his wingspan won't matter as much since he's apparently 7 feet tall.

So far it sounds like they're going to go with a Covington/Simmons 3/4 combo, it makes sense because of how good Covington is on defense and it means they can switch everything in the frontcourt if Simmons really is that good defensively.

His wingspan is 7 foot and 1/4th (and he's grown since college allegedly), which isn't bad at all. I don't think he'll be a strong rim protector and he may not be quick enough at his size laterally to defend wings and guards all game. But he looks like a guy who could be a dangerous help defender and defend multiple positions.

What do you guys think of Ant Davis this year?

I think this has to be his 75+ game monster season. He has so many injuries and if he doesn’t stay on the court plus make the playoffs, just blow that whole shyt up unless you have Wall’s word that he will sign to the pelicans.

Watching some of the training camp opening interviews for the Cavaliers, it lowkey really seems like guys are looking forward to not having to play with Kyrie anymore, J.R. and Love in particular.
Kyrie froze Love out on an all-time scoring performance, I bet Kevin packed his bags personally :mjlol:

Barring injury, he'll have another very good season. There's no way the Pelicans are making the playoffs; and if they do, they're getting swept. It's only a matter of time before they're gonna have to blow it up. And Ant isn't going to want to waste his prime years during a rebuild.

If Wall joins the Pels, things get real interesting.

How is there no way they're making the playoffs when everyone got wet over the prospect of a Dubs /Pels first round matchup when they got Cousins?

All jokes aside I understand the Pels aren't "deep" but it's very possible that they make the playoffs. Clips, Jazz got weaker, and most of the teams that got stronger were already playoff teams
