:francis: Ryan Anderson was a big signing mistake..... Morey now needs to find a way to get a three way trade going to get rid of Ryan and bring in bench guys and a better four

James Harden went to war out there with Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, and Nene.

Playing against a team starting Austin Rivers, Montrezl Harrell, Jamil Wilson, C.J. Williams, and lets throw in 26 minutes of Jawun Evans.

Get guarded by a 5'10" rookie and turn the ball over 8 times in a loss brehs. :beli:

Let Austin "coach's son" Rivers go off for 36 brehs. :beli:

Let Lou "In my 13th season and still not even the Clippers letting me start games" Williams go off for 32 more brehs. :beli:

Shoot 37 free throws in the last two games then call out the refs brehs. :beli:

Base an entire MVP campaign on your ability to goad refs into calling fouls on your threes brehs. :mjlol:

We just gon' act like JJ Barea didn't lock him up in the 2011 Finals? :umad:

:dead:

This ridiculous narrative gotta end. :mjlol:

The Mavs played a zone defense focused on Lebron in the 2011 Finals, so Lebron was never being marked by just one guy. And Barea wasn't even one of the top-4 primary defenders on Lebron that series (that was Marion most of the time, followed by Stevenson, Kidd, and Terry). The Mavs' plan was to use Tyson Chandler and the zone defense to cut off Lebron's drives, shift the zone around him to try to cut off his passing lanes, lay off of him outside to dare him to shoot the three, and keep switching his primary defender around to keep him off-balance because Lebron tends to get comfortable and exploit any defender when he learns his weaknesses over the course of the series.

The strategy worked beautifully, because

* Lebron didn't have a consistent outside shot

* he had no shooters to open up his lanes and pass out to (the Heat starters other than Lebron - Bibby, Wade, Bosh, and Joel Anthony - were a horrific 12-41 from three FOR THE SERIES)

* Let's repeat that last one - Lebron's four fellow starters combined for a total of TWO threes a game for the series on just 29% shooting. :sadcam: Harden's fellow starters just went 10-23 from three in tonight's game and people saying, "He needs more help!"

* the Dallas zone was still novel in 2011 and neither Spo nor the rest of the NBA really knew how to deal with it that postseason.

But Barea defended Lebron on like 3-4 possessions. Saying that he "locked up" Lebron for a whole game, much less a series, just some stupid shyt. :hhh:

This season? Oladipo> Westbrook and it's not even close. Westbrook hasn't even played at an All Star level with those shooting percentages and that defense.

Story of Kobe's career after Shaq got dealt besides '09. :kobewhatever:

You right...but Kobe is the shooting guard. He's the one who is supposed to be hitting those threes and opening up the floor for other people. It's different when you a forward and saying, "none of my guards can hit threes" than when you a shooting guard and making the complaint about your forwards. Kobe was supposed to be the outside threat, the help he needed was on the inside, and for the majority of his career he had plenty down there.

btw, random side effect of me looking up Laker threes in elimination series...

Kobe vs Celtics in 2008: 9-28 from three for series (32.1%)
Kobe vs Magic in 2009: 9-25 from three for series (36.0%)
Kobe vs Celtics in 2010: 15-47 from three for series (31.9%)
Kobe vs Mavs in 2011: 5-22 from three for series (22.7%)
Kobe vs Thunder in 2012: 2-18 from three for series (11.1%)

:merchant:

Kobe's efficiency from outside in the tough playoff series got real bad real fast.
