They weren't really looking forward to this season anyway. Way too many holes in their roster and so many unanswered questions about the direction of their team.

But they got to be disappointed with the way that Simmons is handled and how his people conduct business. I'm all for getting every cent I can out of my employer but he hasn't made a good impression on them from a basketball standpoint, his people make him come off as a diva. He should WANT to play this season, it's a fractured toe, he should want play through or recover from that and keep it moving. Instead he has his people make his decisions for him.
They may think it's better for his brand if he gets rookie of the year next season like Blake did.

Yeah I'm thinking this is the idea. And it'll be one less year he'll have to worry about getting an actual devastating injury while still on that rookie contract. Good for him, just sucks for the 76ers.
And maybe they hoping that when he comes next season they would've moved one of those bigs for a decent wing player as well.

Breh there's no way Simmons' team will be able to spin him sitting out an entire season for an injury he suffered in September that typically takes 8-12 weeks to heal :mjlol:

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Don't think I agree with this tbh, if he's 100% cleared by February I think he should get some of his rookie reps in

I still think it hurt Droses comeback that he waited out that entire season. He just had so much fukking rust to shake after that extended layoff

Then you look at a guy like PG13, or MJ back in his 2nd season. They came back from fractures, got some late season reps in and were 100% ready to go the following season with minimal rust

I wouldn't compare him to MJ or PG, he's a lot bigger than either one of those guys. Despite being a point forward Ben is a big man, he's a legit 6'10 250lbs, and you have to be very careful with their feet.

Im not advocating him rushing back, but if he's resuming basketball activities anyways, then I would get him some burn in actual games

KD had the same injury and came back within the timetable, needed surgery again. He's a big man, protect them feet at all costs.
