He made a gigantic leap in postseason reliability in '15 and can reasonably take another step forward in the upcoming campaign. You should take into consideration potential player growth, especially when it comes to a young superstar who simply needs to translate his regular season consistency (Where he's been one of the games better clutch performers) to the postseason.

Very few players in this game you'd rather have as the top offensive option than Harden as is.

Lmao I can pretty much guarantee he won't win a chip with Houston, it's one of those franchises that are just there to keep things competitive kinda like the clips, atl, mem, Toronto, port in the past etc

The Clippers series says otherwise.

Rockets winning it all wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. If Harden can channel what he displayed for much of the WCF against the #1 defense, not a team they can't beat in this league.
Co-sign, lowkey think the Rockets will do VERY well this year if they can stay healthy for the most part. It's good people called out his inconsistencies in the post-season before when he was actually not performing well but his efficiency jumped by 10 TS% from the '14 playoffs to the '15 playoffs.

28/3/7 on 46/38/96 vs. Mavs
25/5/8 on 40/35/91 vs. Clipps
28/7/6 on 46/43/86 vs. GSW

Had two awful games and three great/amazing games in that Warriors series

To win it all he's probably gonna need to be even more consistent than that though

The Clippers series says otherwise.

Still maintained good true shooting efficiency despite his issues from the field. The Harden in the previous two campaigns couldn't even do that much (51 TS% vs POR , 54 TS% vs OKC both a farcry from his RS shooting efficiency), not to mention perform the way he did against the Mavericks and especially #1 ranked defense Warriors. I've been the mans biggest critic but he definitely showed me something I wasn't sure that he even had in the '15 postseason. He can progress even further this year.

They have so much depth its insane. 11 deep with quality players who fit their style, if I were a hipster I'd probably pick them to win it all but I've gone safe with OKC. At the least they should be considered a push matchup against any of the juggernaut contenders they face in the PS which might come down to a game 7 do or die situation (which James has gotta show up for)

Remember how harsh people on HN used to be on Harden? He was absolute dogshyt in the postseason not even resembling a star and really looked like he struggled to adapt his unorthodox playstyle to postseason basketball where teams figured him out. That changed this season, and it'll be interesting how he works off ball with Lawson. Could make him even better.

He'll definitely need to turn it up more next PS. Can't play so poorly in elimination games, has to dominate when all the chips are on the line much like Curry did in that G5 against the Cavs with the score close mid 4th Q. If he doesn't go off, Warriors probably lose that series. That's the next step for Harden in his progression as a superstar in this league.

Didn't even address how this was the year he made a huge defensive leap as well, was above average defensively this season at least. Think him stepping up in elimination games is the next step for him, can't have a record TO night like G5 vs GSW while shooting 2-11 and 5 fouls or G6 vs LAC shoot 5-20 and be lucky enough to have a role player step up.

OKC with a competent coach is something I'll be looking at closely this season, while Russ and KD in their primes and both top 5 players.

How can anyone ride for Harden at this point?

If it weren't for CP3 with the worst choke job in playoff history, all eyes would be on Harden for being nailed to the bench while his team made the run not just without him but BECAUSE they were without him. Then he set record for turnovers in a playoff game against GS too.

Dude is officially the most sus player in the NBA come playoff time. At least Paul gets to blame his teammates. Harden's team literally won a big game without him.
