Folks got to understand it ain't just about guarding him. One of the reasons Curry was fresh in the 4th last night......Luke took him off Paul and let Curry guard Crawford who just sat out by the 3 lines.

Luke did the same vs the Nets in the 4th he took Curry off of Jack and let him guard the Euro dude who just camped out at the 3 line.

You must go at Curry for 4 qtrs on the offensive end. You can't let that dude rest guarding dudes who camp out and shoot 3s.

Even the Mavs when Dirk was young had trouble with teams that had strong front courts who could score. Why? Because it forced Dirk to guard someone for 4 qtrs. If he was allowed to guard a dude who wasn't gonna do shyt offensively then Dirk would kill you because he didn't have to use any energy on defense.

So bulls when the 4th qtr comes around you can't have Curry sitting and chilling guarding Snell by the 3 line. Cause best believe in the 4th Luke will not let him guard Rose or Butler.

Took him off Paul :bryan:

So Curry was like "I got Paul :ooh:"

And Luke was like "Nah Steph don't worry about it go guard Crawford" :jbhmm:

Anytime Paul got near Curry on defense this dude would run to the other side of crawford like :heh:

Luke took him off Jack in the 4th in the nets game too. This is what the warriors do.....they are not going to make Curry guard good offensive players for 4 qtrs. They did the same last year....they want to conserve his energy for the offensive end. The Mavs have been doing the same with Dirk for over 15 years. Shoot rememy all those Suns playoffs runs? Remember how many times Nash was guarding Bruce Bowen....so he wouldn't guard Parker or any other Spurs wing player besides Bowen.

That is why I laugh when folks say he is a great defender. They don't do that shyt with Great defenders....Phil would have never said to Kobe in his prime hey it is the 4th qtr I want you to guard Eric snow and get off of AI so you can save your energy.

Nor would Phil have taken MJ in his prime and said hey lets take you off of Drexler and put you on 400 year old Danny Ainge so that you can conserve energy.

I agree I just don't think Luke tells Steph that...I think it is just understood...Steph guards the oppsosing team point guard until that guy starts making shots...then typically klay or barnes guards him...

Like last night...when paul got cold...steph on him...when paul heats up...steph guards jamal

That is a good point and could also be happening. But it is a strategy that I am sure the coaching staff has implemented. Like I said this is nothing new with great scorers who are not great individual defenders.....been going on for a very long time.

Most people forget that it was McHale who often guarded which ever SF or PF was the best offensive player and Bird would guard the other one. That is why in that Atlanta playoff series Nique guarded Bird but McHale guarded Nique.

Curry isn't a great defender but he's not trash. He's ok, but not a stopper....It's just there are like 8 players on his team that defends better than him on the permimeter and/or have fouls to give

Never said he was trash. He just isn't a great defender and that is why they hide him if the opposing PG goes off like the other poster stated or it is in the 4th qtr.

PG defense is overrated, unless you're a role player then as a point guard your defense doesn't matter that much, you just need to be competent enough to run after your guy and hopefully force him into a big so the big can have your back
