Is NBA going to ignore this elephant in the room or do something about the schedule, something is clearly not right, it hasn't been like that about 5 years ago. NBA needs to either reduce the amount of games to be played in regular season or have longer breaks between games.

We got grizzlies looking like a d league team missing their main players, now clippers are done for the series, hornets and celtics missing key players and so far winning few games off the strength of home court. Mavs had half of their squad missing as well. Curry slip was a freak accident but the injury at game 1 quite likely was a result of regular season.
Half of these series are pointless to watch

I don't think you can blame the schedule for that though. It's been the same forever. I think the difference now is that guys don't play through injuries and pain as much and don't rush back like they used to. I also think that early specialization and playing year round impacts guys as well.

NBA should get rid of the first round all together or at least go back to best 3 of 5. Never gonna happen though. Money/TV >>>> for these owners.

Maybe because of the game style changing? We are kind moving to the age where every position needs to play both defense and offense, 10 years ago you would see a lot of one dimensional players doing only what they are supposed to do. It's got to be with the style of play because for the past few years we have seen lots of young players having injuries as well, it wasn't like that 5-10 years ago. We would see only older players having injuries, and then a few bad luck teams like blazers with oden and roy. But we would see lots of series with key players playing. But for these past few years we are seeing key players dropping like flies, it has got something to do with the regular schedule, they should reduce the amount consecutive games that they play sometimes. It would be like one two weeks longer but I feel like because of that there may be a little less injuries.

Even with the recent changes the game is still slower than it once was. Guys are playing fewer minutes per game and taking fewer risks in regards to injury as well. You still got plenty of one dimensional players and you have zones that allow guys to hide on defense. Whereas, back in the day you could clear out and exploit a weak defender. You look at these injuries and they aren't wear and tear injuries. They are either guys who are just injury prone, which we have always had, or they are freak injuries, like we've always had.

I thought I read the exact opposite being true. While the pace is slower in regards to possessions per game, offenses and defenses as a whole are doing a whole lot more movement on both sides of the ball. Way more teams are running a trapping defense and a lot more offenses are utilizing off ball screens and cuts. Back in the day you'd see a lot more possessions of three guys cleared out on the weak side barely moving while the two players on the strong side run a pick and roll or just a flat out iso. Plus there are a lot less fast breaks as more teams focus on running back on defense which plays a large roll in lowered possession numbers.

There is validity there but you cant' dismiss the impact of running up and down the floor 30 more times per night. 61 Cs were 2nd in pace with 130. This year the Warriors were 2nd with 99 and they are considered to be trailblazers. There is no way the game is faster with that many few possessions being played each night. Fundamental basketball is all about ball and player movement. shyt bogged down in the 90s but the game was meant to be up and down. And we can't act like everybody is out here moving the ball and moving bodies like that today. Also you have to consider the fact that stars were basically playing the entire game back then(Wilt average more than 48 mpg one year). Then you also gotta consider advancements in travel and nutrition and training and sports science. Like C Webb said, cats were doing all this running and jumping in Chucks, while today dudes have shoes specifically made for what they are doing.
