Defense is better this year because of Matthews. He solidifies the defense. Last year the mavs had two trash defenders in Dirk and Monte with stupid Carlisle having rondo guard shooting guards.
Now with matthews at the two guard the mavs have 4 good defenders with only Dirk being a weak defender. It is easy to cover up for 1 poor defender compared to two poor defenders.

i wish there was an advanced statistic out there that kept track of hibbert falling down and in what situation he falls down in. this dude has to average at least 6 falls per game, probably more than he gets boards.
