He might. It's just counter productive for us to do that if the team wants to get value for him. Besides, the team could use the shooting and he did that well. Let the contender figure out what to do with Martin.

Personally I think he sticks around until his shooting can be replaced. The focus should still be at PF even if Young opts in (though word is the Raptors are looking at him in a trade for next month). Also not forgetting about Bjelica and Dubljevic who may come over if the $$ is good.

Back to Zach for a sec, if his only route to any meaningful PT is through SG and he's being blocked by Wiggins and /or Bazz, it doesn't look good (because PG will and should be addressed some other way).

Simple short term solution to this:

Play Martin at SG /Wiggins at SF til deadline. If nothing happens, choose between Muhammad or Martin for who you want to be the main bench producer. I love Bazz, but short term, either /or can come off the bench and I wouldn't care.

Long term solution: Shop Martin if you can and cut your losses with LaVine.

Realistically, he's not gonna give up on Zach, but each year, his expectations will drop more and more.

This year: "we believe Zach can be a destination player."

next year: "we believe Zach can be a great weapon off the bench."

year after that: "we believe Zach Lavine still has a place in the NBA where he can be productive."

year after that: "maybe a stint overseas will do him some good. I wish him well"

Flip would never do this, but if by some chance we miss out on Towns, the guy clearly should be Hezonja, because he's 6'8'' as well and can shoot. Winslow and Johnson are good, but I'm a little more apprehensive about them.
