How is it that I'm seeing some national writers that have Lebron top 5 in their current MVP race? If anybody on the Cavs should be it should be Kyrie as he's clearly been their best player. I know Lebron is putting up good overall stats but watching game to game and there's no way you could have him as one of the MVP candidates.
Because he's Lebron . He's an automatic top 5 MVP candidate until further notice. That said Kyrie has not been clearly their best player breh . He's had some nice scoring nights but it's pretty clear that Bron is the best and most impactful player, even playing at half speed.
How's Lebron been their best player? He's been subpar defensively. He's non-existant for majority of games. He's been reckless with the ball turning it over 4 times a game and nowhere near as efficient as he used to be. Lebron's play has been way more up and down while night to night Kyrie has been killing it for the most part. A lot of times it's been Kyrie taking over games to get them out of a slump or getting hot to bring them back from a lead when the team is struggling.
Well that makes sense, since all their wins have been a combination of at least two of Bron/Kyrie/Love carrying them throughout the game (Kyrie has been the base ingredient). If Kyrie was as inconsistent and haphazard as Bron and vice versa, the team's fortunes would be up and down too. Kyrie has been their main aggressor, he's been their most consistent player and if either Love or Bron picked up their games to the effort and efficient output that he's had this season they probably would've had more wins. And the teams fortunes have gone according to those ups and downs. The games that they won early on, were the games that he was most aggressive offensively and scoring a lot. As of late his all around play, especially his facilitating has been key. He allows Kyrie to play off the ball and focus on attacking while demanding the opposing defenses attention.

Regardless if Bron has started off slow and hasn't been playing to the best of his abilities, he still deserves his place as being the #1 player in the league (even if he hasn't been playing like it). Now if Bron had be playing more efficiently and consistently, they would have had more wins - through all the games this season Kyrie has been the player that the Cavs can count on to get them back into games or keep margins on leads they already have. Just because if you were to subtract Bron from this team, doesn't take away from the fact that Kyrie has been the best/most consistent player. And if Bron wasn't there how would the team's fortune's be?
Bullshyt. Kyrie's play hasn't been in large part due to Bron. You can get the fukk outta here with that shyt. The minimal amount of FGs that Bron has assisted him on have been 3s where Bron runs himself into help defense or makes the correct option-pass. Kyrie's been creating 90% of his looks (by breaking down his defender and defenses all by himself) regardless if Bron is on the court or not. Bron's been acting all LeThargic during the games, where Kyrie has been a calculated killer for the majority of them, and you wanna say Bron is the reason for that?Bron hasn't played to his normal standard and Kyrie has played above his (in large part due to Bron's presence) .
Of course Irving hasn't surpassed or is more valuable than him. Where are you getting that from? Saying he's been their best performer up to this point, doesn't mean he's eclipsed Bron as a player.but to say Kyrie has surpassed him or has been more valuable is comical at this point.
And did you watch the Knicks' game the night before?I saw the Cavs in person on Friday. Anyone other than Bron being their MVP is laughable.

A lot of the Cavs momentum and ability to create it has been ruined by Bron simply not showing up at certain times.

Kyrie has been playing like this for pretty much his entire career (aside from the change in defensive attitude and more appropriate shots due to less of an offensive load).

I don't think @threattonature was saying that Irving has surpassed Bron as a player, just that he's been performing better up this point. All I am saying. Nothing more needs to be said. I got it from the person I was responding to.
I said so far this year Kyrie has been the Cavs most consistent and best player. Obviously Lebron is a better player if we are getting anywhere near what Lebron normally brings to the table. I'm strictly judging of their play this year. There's a reason so many people have been asking what's wrong with Lebron because he's been nowhere near his normal self. All I am saying. Nothing more needs to be said. I got it from the person I was responding to.
