Melo said it wasnt about the money, he wanted to win at this point in his career. Im just saying we shouldnt take him at face value. Im cool with whatever decison he wants to make for him and his family, but he was bullshytting about the desire to win.

Bulls/Melo could have gotten creative to close the gap on the money too. Sign for 2 years, get his bird rights, then max him out in full with the increased max contact that is coming.

Because you disagreed when I said in my initial post he's not an idiot because he didn't want to take a significant paycut. As far as what he said, actions always speak louder than words when it comes to free agency. He said what practically every marquee free agent says before the process starts.

You can't get a player's bird rights if you only have him for 2 years though. And beyond that Melo said he didn't want to sign a 2 year contract anyway.

I'm on record for applauding Thibs defensive genius.
I don't think the Bulls could win titles with Melo, because he's too much of a defensive liability. What about that is BS? It's conjecture just like everything else on this board. Except melo has a history of not winning, and this current Bulls squad doesn't have a history of winning ships.
No shade just honesty breh.

Melo would have been hidden on defense on the Bulls. Between Rose, Butler, Gibson, & Noah having Melo out there would have been nothing even if he was Harden levels of a defender.

Im assuming they flip Dunleavy to open space - they also probably add another veteran big for depth (maybe be moving Dunleavy)

Also, if the get an EARLY commitment from Melo, maybe instead of drafting Doug, they just take Gary Harris & Nurkic to add extra depth

Melo gives effort at least. . Thibs wouldve worked wonders for him and improved his awareness on that.
