They will only get better as the season goes along.
Barring any injury, AD will not lose for long. The guy is an absolute monster and I expect at the MINIMUM 42 wins this season.
I like Davis and I think if he continues to put up numbers like this he deserves it but the odds of him winning are slim if the Pelicans don't have a great record considering how the voters historically lean towards.
Pretty much everyone who's won MVP in the modern era played on a team that had 50+ wins and was at least top 3 in the conference.
2014: Durant (59 win team, 2nd in conference)
2013: LeBron (66 win team, 1st in conference)
2012: LeBron (46 win team (Lockout year), 2nd in conference)
2011: Rose (62 win team, 1st in conference)
2010: LeBron (61 win team, 1st in conference)
2009: LeBron (66 win team, 1st in conference)
2008: Kobe (57 win team, 1st in conference)
2007: Dirk (67 win team, 1st in conference)
2006: Nash (54 win team, 2nd in conference)
2005: Nash (62 win team, 1st in conference)
2004: KG (58 win team, 1st in conference)
2003: Duncan (60 win team, 1st in conference)
2002: Duncan (58 win team, 2nd in conference)
2001: Iverson (56 win team, 1st in conference)
2000: Shaq (67 win team, 1st in conference)
I could go on but I think you get the point. Regardless of what type of stats he has, if his team doesn't have a great record his chances of winning are slim to none.
