We're just a jump shooting team so why would it matter if he clogged the paint :sas1:?

It's not about him clogging the paint...

It's not really even Ibaka by himself...

It would be the combination of Ibaka and Kanter...

Kanter is horrible defensively...but he is a legit back to the basket post player with above average post moves AND he can hit a jumper out to 15 feet...

Ibaka is a very good one on one defender and one of the beast weak side defenders in basketball...and since his game is primarily jump shooting he is not going to interfere with Kanter in the paint at all...

Both of these dudes are pretty good rebounders

So IF Ibaka comes back healthy for the playoffs...Now OKC can pair a big man who can legit get you 20 points in the paint with another big man who can legit get you 15 points shooting jumpers...and their offensive games are not going to interfere with each other...

On top of that...you don't even have to hide Kanter on defense anymore...Ibaka takes the other teams best big man and Kanter just focuses on hitting the board...

I am also factoring in Sabo feeding these guys a lot more in the playoffs...not because he wants to but because if they make it he is going to be gassed...he is already gassed...the spurts in which he is balls to the while flying around the court are getting shorter and shorter on a game to game basis...

The big problem with Kanter isn't his paint defense. It's when other teams involve him in the pick and roll. Either the guard pulls the ball out and makes it a one on one matchup where they just blow past him or in Steph's case he'll just cross him up and pull up for a J. With Golden State's passing ability even if Serge leaks over to help cut it off GS will whip it around for easy shots. Or they'll be stuck doing a hard trap.

Well Kanters defense everywhere is bad. And in the case of GS Kanter is guarding Bogut...and I don't find a Bogut Curry pick and roll very scary at all, due to the fact that Bogut is not very good offensively so he is not going to be diving hard to the basket after the pick or stepping out and knocking down a 12 footer on a pick and pop. Curry is going to get a good look at the basket and you are just going to have to live with that. Curry is also so good at shooting the ball that their isn't very much difference between you contesting his shot or not, so no matter what you do on defense Curry is going to get his shot off and it likely going to go in. Dude is a borderline 50 40 90 guy WITH handles...there is no defense you can play on a guy like that that is going to matter much...

The problem is what a Serge/Kanter combo could do to you on offense. Kanter is good enough in the post to get Bogut, a guy who is already foul prone for the majority of his career, into foul trouble single handily. and if that happens, GS has absolutely no rim protection. It is going to be just an endless wave of shots at the basket. An endless wave of westbrook driving down the lane with GS not having anyone big enough to make him think twice about it. Endless wave of Kanter on the low block and you don't have anyone big enough to even slow him down...

Your saving grace is that at some point waiters has to come into the game and he is single handidly going to kill whatever ibaka/kanter have going by making the worst decisions anyone could possibly make on a basketball court...

Spurs...Memphis...insert random team you want for no 3...

Warriors are getting all this love...because they had a great regular season...uh...isn't this the same team that couldn't get out of the 1st round last year? Against a clippers team that everyone pegs as a bunch of crybabies and being overrated...isn't steve kerr a first year head coach? Are you telling me the gap between Steve Kerr and Mark Jackson as head coaches is so wide that you can have both men coach basically the same team and one guy can't get out of the first round while the other guy is going to when an NBA title?

Houston is getting all this love...this team hasn't won a playoff series...off the top of my head...in at least the last 5 or 6 years...people tell me James Harden is an MVP candidate and that is going to make the difference...uh...he was an MVP candidate last year and didn't Houston lose in the 1st round? Also if they stay in the 2 seed they get the Dallas Carlisle's...the only coach last year who could even remotely hold his own against the spurs offense...and you think he is not going to be able to come up with a plan to at least corral james harden surrounded by players who can't create their own shot?

In the last 3 years only 3 teams have played in the WCF...Spurs 3...Okc 2...Memphis 1...I think OKC is to hurt to get there...but I find it hilarious that teams like GS and Houston are being touted as championship contenders...where if you combine all the playoffs games they won in the last 3 years...it doesn't equal the amount of playoff games the spurs won LAST YEAR...

Quick...name the last team who didn't get out of the 1st round one year...then came back and won the NBA championship the very next year?

breh, the warriors are a much better than than the grizzlies and its not even close IMO. the grizz have NO CHANCE against the warriors or spurs, and you no one is getting through the west without playing one of them. i dont know why youre bringing up last year like it means anything for this year.
