I'm just not feeling mainstream hip hop like I used to. A lot of the music is so formulaic. Just throw stuff on the wall and see what sticks.

Artists dropping 2-3 projects in 18 months but only having like 5-6 decent songs between the projects.

I think streaming is largely to blame. Since it's all about song streams, labels would rather play it safe concerning the sound of their artists.

I guess the silver lining in all of this is that I've branched out to other genres with good effect.

Even the mainstream sound systems are patterned towards a bass heavy sound..

I'm still stuck in 1996

I go to Bomb1st and 2Pac-Forum and find music from Death Row that I've never even heard before.

They're even gearing up to release a "new" unreleased 2Pac song completely unheard before.
