No, I routinely watch him get cooked by anyone with post game
He also cannot stay in front of good guards for long stretches.
He has a bigger motor, more defensive smarts, and moves his feet and hands quicker than almost every single big man in the league, but you're telling me he can't stay in front of good guards for long stretches...
He also does not do a good job keeping rebounders off the offensive glass, which is mostly due to his size.
He's been one of the league-leaders in box outs over the last few years (he's #6 this season with 10.2 a game; he averaged around 18 box outs a game in the WCF last season), and averaged 4.7 contested rebounds in the 2016 playoffs (similar amount to Adams and Drummond), averaged 3.8 contested rebounds in the 2017 playoffs (only a few players compared over similar volume of games), averaged 4.5 contested rebounds in the 2018 playoffs (similar amount to Gobert and Embiid).
He's been one of the best players at boxing-out and grabbing contested rebounds (all at a limited height), as well as having more defensive duties out on the perimeter than any other big man.
He would be dog food in the era with legitimate big men.
Except no other player in the league can successively defend the variety of big men that Draymond can. He has the COG, understanding of angles, player tendencies, court awareness, strength, BBIQ, motor etc collectively that no player comes close to displaying. Big men as a whole are more talented than ever before, and Draymond is having more success against them, than any other player, yet you seem to think this
back-in-the-day rhetoric is going to cover up your lack of understanding of the game.
Aldridge, one of the softest big men of all time, kicks Draymond’s ass all the time .
This is factually incorrect. To save myself the trouble of going through all his matchup shooting percentages against Draymond in recent history, let me just post this -
LaMarcus Aldridge deletes social accounts after Golden State game
SAN ANTONIO--
After recording just five points, one rebound and three turnovers in a blowout loss against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge immediately deleted his Twitter and Insagram accounts.
Aldridge was not a heavy social media user but the move to get rid of both accounts seemed odd considering the timing. San Antonio had just gotten blown out and Aldridge had his worst game in a Spurs uniform.
He was passive and got pushed around by Draymond Green, going 2 for 9 from the field while also getting seriously exploited defensively by Golden State.
He can’t protect the rim which is why McGee was essential last year, as well as KD.
2018 playoffs - Draymond defended the fifth most attempts at the rim, at 6.5 attempts a game (Gobert was #1 with 8.8 attempts), and holding opponents to 53% FG, which was better than AD and Capela.
He held opponents to under -10 FG% from < 6ft.
2017 playoffs- Draymond defended the third most attempts at the rim, at 6.2 attempts a game (Capela was #1 at 7.8 attempts) and holding opponents to 50% FG, which was considerably better than Capela (58%), Adams (63%), horford (64%) - basically he was the best rim protector during that postseason.
He held opponents to under -11 FG% from < 6ft.
2016 playoffs - Draymond defended the second most attempts at the rim, at 7.6 attempts per game (Millsap was #1 at 8.2 attempts), and holding opponents to 47% FG, which was better than Whiteside, Howard, Millsap.
He held opponents to under -16 FG% from < 6ft.
