notes from watching zona/a&m in person.
Zona:
1) miller really trusts kobi simmons and with good reason. Kid is very poised/smart/savvy and makes great decisions. Superathletic, solid jumper in progress although it wasn't falling, showed good vision when playing point. Can play the 2 at the next level if needed but would be very dangerous as a point. Looks to be taller than his listed 6'5". Good draft pick from 15-25 after next season.
2) alkins. Dude is a MAN physically. Really chiseled and broad shoulders helps him get to the lane, but was finishing poor. Jumper was way off. Will be able to bully most college 2s and even alot of 3s. Needs to expand skillset in terms of handles and jumper as he'll have to play the 2 at the next level.
3) allen. Dude is a leader and can definitelty defend the 1 at an nba level, but his late game decisions/passes had me SMH. Jumper looks ok although he wasn't hitting. Very fast.
4) markannen. dude is incredibly mobile for his size and can step out and hit from nba 3. Game is mostly finesse right now, but he was willing to bang. Should be picked anywhere from 10-15 in my opinion.
5) ristic. big as fukk and more skilled on the block than markannen, albeit a bit more predictable/slow. Slow feet on defense.
6) comanche. Super long and mobile/active big, but skill level is way behind. Saw some glimpses of attempted post moves. Needs alot of offensive polish, mostly just a finisher.
7) trier. Still not playing, but was very vocal and encouraging of his teammates during live play and timeouts. I was doubting his height, but he looks to actually be 6'5". Definitely the alpha of their team even from the bench. Will be interesting to see how he blends in once he's back.
a&M:
1) davis. Dude is a beast on the block with some nice moves w/ single coverage but tries to do too much with double coverage. Has really got in much better shape since highschool. Needs to work on FTs.
2) hogg. Similar to how i've seen him most of the year, he kind of just coasts through games and you forget he's even there until he hits a big 3. Has skills, but just seems comofy blending in here and there. Long and taller in person than I thought. looks to be all of 6'8" and maybe even 6'9".
3) williams. This is one active, athletic dude. Blocks/contested shots, dives to the rim for dunk attempts, finishes well through contact. Even stepped out and hit a 12 foot jumper. He has a solid SEC campaign and he needs to enter the draft. Definite first round grade at his current trajectory. Don't know why he doesn't start.
