Phoenix actually gets hotter than Vegas does, but not by much. Once you're off the tourist areas I've heard it's a pretty similar lifestyle though

Yessir. Casinos are open 24/7, all 365 days of the year. Many restaurants in and near casinos are also open 24hrs, and everything else, even off-Strip, closes later than most other places.
