Caruth was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in a Caribbean household — his father from Saint Vincent and mother from Barbados.

You may be right, but I would work 15 jobs in middle school to pay the fees for a name change rather than keep that name. Every teacher he's had must have done a double take and think he was the son. When I clicked the thread, I thought the son had a miraculous recovery and started to race, because I can't remember his actual name. There is no way he went through middle school without being nicknamed Killa

Georgia is way too close to Carolina for his parents to be completely unaware of Rae Carruth's story.
