if anything those em singles might be bigger if SM was around back then. people might meme them and shyt.

Those songs arent hits because theyre good songs. Theyre hits because they were full of memes before memes were a thing. It was the shock value of someone making fun of pop culture that turned these songs into hits.

There wouldnt be much novelty with this sort of music if a platform for people to discuss pop culture at a global scale already existed. Thats exactly why you dont see any Weird Als anymore making a career out of this shyt. This was a gimmick that Em used over and over for his first 3-4 albums.

Theres still tons of music out there today that makes fun of pop culture, but none of it on some absolute clown shyt like Em was on.
