Not exactly true. India treats their minorities much better than Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, or Sri Lanka. It's Hindu-majority, but the law is still secular. Muslims can get free trips to Mecca courtesy of the government, they get affirmative action, guaranteed seats in government, etc. Not saying there aren't problems, but as a model, it's one of the better countries in terms of religious rights (not for caste rights, etc, though.)
