because we live in a world of clout chasers. people doing and saying shyt to look good. people want likes and daps and shyt. there is no point in being on social media if you cant be seen/heard in most peoples eyes. just like the church folk trying to preach to people not in the church and they violating all types of shyt if you are going by the Bible. we live in a monkey-see-monkey-do society where your opinion doesnt carry as much weight unless it lines up with consensus or opinion of the masses.

They went to court and he got off. In the eyes of the law he was fine. In the eyes of public opinion he was seen as disgusting but he was excused. Now that people are interacting online more that has changed. It is different.

I'm not disagreeing with you except on the fact, the general public didn't find him disgusting. He lived his life just fine as long he was making hits and employing people. I think you aren't seeing my perspective on how easily media can manipulate the general public. R. Kelly would be just fine right now with his "kidnapped sex slaves" had Lifetime not made documentary on it.

That says more about how fukked up the public is more than R. Kelly.

it definitely was a different time breh. back then it was a running joke. nikkas was bootlegging the shyt. had viewings at barbershops. it was a running joke. if #meetoo had been around back then along with social media craze, R Kelly wouldve been done right then.

I know it was joke. We clowned him in high school. I'm saying had he not been rich and famous, he would've been cancelled then and under the jail. I'm saying if he'd been Robert Kelly and not R. Kelly he would've been gone.

I'm putting the onus on people and celebrities, not so much R. Kelly here.

What is your take on this?
I haven’t heard your perspective in a while..,
Disclaimer:didn't read op and likely won't (currently in the gym).

As for R Kelly, no comment. Don't know enough about the situation other than random stuff popping up in the net. I don't follow stuff like this enough to form an opinion.

15 to 19, huh? fukking a 15-16 year old vs fukking an 18-19 year old seems like kind of a big gap to me, Wendy. Lowkey sounds like a guy who was attracted to 15 year olds came up with that term to blur the lines a bit. You know what I mean, Wendy?

Honestly think back to when you were 15-16 were you really that much different than you were at 18? I legit don't think I matured until I was 21.

no. I am saying that if back then were today....while he still may had beaten the charges, his music career wouldve been over because of how powerful the influence of social media and movements like #meetoo are. think about it. EVERYONE knew that was him on that tape, yet he has worked with upward of 200 artists since that time. NONE of those artists had issue with it. fast forward to today and NO NEW EVIDENCE has been presented that he has committed a crime and everyone, including a lot of those artists are now denouncing him. GAGA, Chance, Tank, etc...all say it was a mistake working with him....but what has changed from when they worked with him??? The docu said you should hate him and social media and forums like this have the same contingent. people would rather sound or look virtuous and make PC statements than use logic yet risk being ostracized by the general consensus.

It was about money.

being rich and famous is how he beat the case. but regular people werent vilified or labeled as complicit or enablers or caping for a "pedophile" then like they would be now on a larger scale due to the influence of #metoo and the vehicle of social media. his career wouldve have been cancelled then even if he was found not guilty in the courts had these things been prominent during that time. and to think all of the music he has made/contributed to then would probably cease to exist.

yes, we probably didnt start learning more worldly things until we got around 22 or the age you get your first college degree because you are still a child, still living under mom and pops insurance. me personally, I dont think we as Americans are mentally "adults" until they are closer to the back side of 20. I also used the rule that once I hit 30 that I would only date women half my age plus 7. lol.

I was talking more the physicality of a 15 year old vs an 18/19 year old...interesting point tho. Don't they say the human brain doesn't fully mature until around age 25?
